Polar silver front PU respray Question.. re blend and colour

The 993 needs its front bumper resprayed, I've inquired locally and the shops recommended blending in the wings and bonnet. This will obviously be at extra cost. The car is polar silver and I've read its extremely hard to match panels exactly. Some suggest there are varying shades from the different surfaces metal / plastic on cars when they left the factory.

So bumper and blended or just bumper only?

Also any paint shop recommendations in North Kent / SE London at all?

Thanks in advance

Ian

Might be a bit of a hike for you, but I just had both sides [OS vandalised, NSR new Wing] blended in by Impact, next door to Precision Porsche, Sussex..

They did an amazing job..

FWIW, I had my 4S's PU done following an argument over right of way with a deer.

There was no need to paint any other panels and they seemed to be able to blend and match with the adjacent panels. My car is Seal grey though, and I appreciate silver is tricky to match... a neighbour had the door painted on his silver BMW, and it is dreadful.

It may be worth getting the leading edge of the bonnet and wings done anyway as I dare say they have picked up some chips.

Ian,

As mentioned in another thread I've just had some paintwork done. My paint guy also said Polar Silver is a particularly difficult colour to match and that there are 4 different versions on the same paint code to make matters worse. We colour matched it from the 4 polar silver swatches which are all suprisingly different. He also insisted on some blending. We did not blend into the bonnet though and I must admit I cannot tell any difference. He blended the front wings as he painted the wheel arch lips to remove some bubbling and stone chips.
I had mine done at Auto Body Shop in Coventry who do all the work for JR Motors. He had just painted the 993 C4S for sale on their website.

Hope this helps
Martin

Gents as ever I'm extremely thankful of the replies. Forum is tip-top.
