Deposit paid collect his Thursday

I am currently looking at a car that has had a large cost (over £10k) engine rebuild by Hartech because of bore scoring to cylinder no 6, which took an unbelievably long time to get agreed with the (highly respected) warranty company.
Even then Hartech were only allowed to put in new liners and pistons for Bank 2 (although they put on a brace for Bank 1, and rebuilt the entire engine with new big and little ends and all new gaskets/clutch etc as you would expect). That was only done 20k or so ago but I am still arranging for a PPI and borescope for piece of mind....

Thank you for the warm welcome, I am collecting the car tomorrow I have decided against a PPI as the warranty from AM is pretty comprehensive I will be keeping an eagle eye on oil usage and the tailpipes of any signs and plan to join the Hartech maintenance plan as soon as the warranty expires maybe a month before just in case.

again thanks for the warm welcome I have a few question but won't jam the forum up with them all at once.

Sean...you are letting your head over take your rational mind.....and we've all done it...I know I certainly have..but I'd insist on it explicitly stating in the warranty T&C's you are covered for Borescore if you are intent on ignoring the advise of my fellow experts (I'm not one by the way).....you surely came on here for good advice...I suggest you take it ...sorry !

You have decided to go ahead

Hi Sean,

you have decided to go ahead and buy the car - all adults here and that is a personal choice.

It comes with a warranty which 'can' be great - ensure you read it, some are better than others and some have clauses such as maximum spend on repairs. Check yours is comprehensive enough.

There were recent changes to the UK law to protect consumers including on car purchases. I know because I went through it big time two years ago with my car.

If as your posts suggest that you are going to pick it up without the appropriate checks I cannot advise you strongly enough to get it checked at a reputable dealer such as Hartech soon after purchase.
They may require it to go on their scheme though I am not sure.

It was Hartech that checked out my car and I highly recommend them, there cannot be many people who know more about Porches, especially 911 marque, than them.
You have far more rights to return the car for a refund under the amended law if you find any issues sooner rather than later.

On the + side I hope that the car is great and all good and you greatly enjoy using and owning it.

Just get the peace of mind bit as well.

Firstly sorry for the delay in update my baby destroyed my MBP when I got home last night so I have had to bring laptop home from work tonight.
OK here we go long winded sorry.
I took everyone's advice in that I called my best friend Thursday morning he has well over 20 years in the motor trade with everything from Fiestas to a F40 in his showroom but he shut his garage late last year and I know he gets annoyed when people ask him to find a car now this is why I didn't ask for his help, he came straight to my house I explained what I was doing he said AM warranty would cover me but came along with me to pick the car up he knows the AM dealership well as it turned out my salesman was an ex-employee of my friend so I asked the question about warranty cover and was told if I blew the engine they would sort it no question and when i asked about bore score again I am completely covered so I can breath a massive sigh of relief so the deal was done and I am now the very proud owner of a shiny red 911. I did say to my friend I would like to have the Bores checked he spoke to his friend who will take a look any time I am passing he is a independent Porsche specialist ( Tom Ferguson) so I am going to do that but I have given myself the weekend off and plan to enjoy my new car.

I really do appreciate been prodded and pushed buy you guys and I can now rest easy.

again thanks for the push,

Sean-f

Thank you for the kind offer but 09:00 is way too early for me this weekend, I have given myself a weekend off work and the wife and daughter have gone to see inlaws so I am treating myself to a well deserved lazy couple of days, maybe next time

Congratulations !
