My GT3 is a car I love and would love to keep for a long period.
Just got a quotation for the work just under $57,000. I'm sure it will be an amazing car. My engine is still running sweet. Its a lot of Bucks for horsepower. Could buy a lot of driving tuition.
My advice. Save your money, the mods you're suggesting won't improve the car to the tune of £45K.
But if you MUST do it, just go factory 4.0 RS/RSR crank, Mahle Motorsport 3.8 pistons and liners, a pair of Cup heads, some uprated cams from FVD and a 4.0 inlet manifold and a decent set of exhaust manifolds/cats exhaust system.
I'd respectfully suggest you DON'T use CTR developments as someone suggested.

Well I do like to amuse whenever possible J
4.0 RS/RSRS crank fairly reasonable, shells and thrusts very lumpy.
Mahle 3.8 liners/pistons approx £5k
A decent set of Carillos run to about £3k
Cup heads £1800 for a pair of M/Sport
Cams ? Use the guys you used, or go Shrick, the latter will cost £7k
Exhaust ? A set of 997 Cup manifolds with some custom link pipes to a standard 997 GT3 centre box should do the trick for sensible money.

I think the new enlarged door mirrors will look great once painted and the glasses have been fitted
Good to see progress being made, agree mirrors look the nuts
I did a similar list but with all Porsche and FVd parts
Cup heads 1500 each £3000
3.8 piston liners £6000
RSR crank £2500
Con rod titanium £6000
New oil pump £1500
Crank case and water ports alterations £1000
Cams £3000
Gadgets seals and fixing bolts £4000 ( the little things add up)
Exhaust FvD £6000
Labour £7000
You can see why SW charge what they do _________________ Porsche is for driving not for washing.

That's uncomfortably true, but since you're having a spring clean, the fronts are pretty ancient too...
The build is lovely btw - you will be amazed at how much thought he's put into it & how tidy it all is now. Enjoy it properly when you get it back _________________ Nick

I've seen loads of guys throw money at cars hand over fist in the pursuit of speed, yet never wanted to believe that they were the weak link in the chain regarding that pursuit.
Don't get me wrong, if people want to mod their car, crack on. But I always struggle to listen to people talk about their mods for performance reasons and they've never invested in themselves.
Smart move
I've got a mate who is an awesome skier, the kind of guy who you'd think is an instructor, but without fail he gets lessons every year, high performance lessons albeit, but still gets lessons. I think the same applies to driving quickly on track
This. I threw the keys to my 993 Carrera to a semi-pro racing driver at Donnington to see the limits of the car pushed by someone who knew what they were doing. He was overtaking 997 and 996 gt3s left right and centre. _________________ current: 993 carrera coupe, manual, iris blue, bilstein pss10

Darren have you decided what to do? It’s a big investment... if I was going to do something similar then I’d rather have someone UK based doing the work (I’m assuming your quotation with Sharkwerks involved shipping your car there and back? Or was there a UK a partner who would do the work in the UK?)
I’m not sure the extreme weight reduction tips would suit your needs, especially if you like your car’s refinement as-is. A no-brainer start point that will give you noticeable gains and make the car feel even more lively would be switching your seats for buckets (I went with Recaro Pole Position XL) and light weight OZ wheels. I’d say start with those 2 simple mods and then go from there...

Hi Roro
No the price did not include shipping.
It’s too expensive.you can’t realy use all the power on the road in the uk.
I do like the Ida of replacing my heavy fully electric seats for buckets . How easy to swop the seats over and did the seats come with the runners.

That’s a good question... did mine years ago and can’t really remember. I bought aftermarket runners which were supposed to fit straight out the box but they didn’t (possibly OMP from memory), so had to get them fitted by a specialist (Matt @ Porschacare), and I remember it being a bit of a pfaff even for him at the time. Things may have improved since then though. Cunno was my go-to man for seats + fitting info, maybe drop him a PM he knows his onions on the 997.1 GT3. Changing the seats is a good mod, you’ll feel the difference in the drive straight away, same with the wheels, the latter being the first thing I’d change though if doing it over again _________________ 2007 997.1 GT3

The point with weight reduction is to make the car (or make it feel) as light as possible. Even with those brakes I’d still go for lighter wheels as you will still feel the difference. I weighed my OZs and OEM wheels when I changed over and the saving was 7kg across the rear axle and 4kg on the front, so 11kg total on unsprung mass, equivalent to approx 60kg sprung mass weight reduction. Would you want an easy additional 60kg weight saving over what you have now or not is the question. Buckets will only save you about maybe 15/20kg net. Up to you obviously what you decide to do though.... _________________ 2007 997.1 GT3

were/are Sharkwerks UK representatives.
When I briefly considered doing a 3.9 on my 997.1 GT3 (whilst in discussion with SW they announced their 4.0/4.1 conversion).
Regal were going to remove and strip the engine, and Alex was going to fly over and oversee the build, the mapping was due to be done remotely by GIAC.

Can't wait. You're gong to have educate me re the pros/cons of mk1 v mk 2 6 GT3 over a beer.
Re the 993 my God the noise as you gun it round to 7200 in each gear - lordy! Have to give credit to 9m. They've built an amazing engine which feels very one of its 330 ponies. Will betaking her down to Litchfield to dyno when it warms up a bit

Interesting that Matt Farah refers to 1st gear in the 4.1 as being redundant, because the tyres light up after 5,000rpm.
Linear power curve too.... it all sort of makes me think perhaps the 3.9 is the sweet spot?
