Can anyone tell me if 18" wheels are ok on a 997, mine currently has 19" , but looking to change the std & quiet often nice 18" come up for sale.

None. They're too small for the wheel arch and look terrible.

Bit like asking the Mrs to have a boob reduction to me, you just wouldn't do it

They are std on the 997.1 3.6 Carrera , ride is softer with 18" but unless the car is lowered they can look a bit like theres too much arch gap. heres an unlowered gen1 3.6 on 18"
I think the reason there are plenty for sale is no one wants them.

It's not a bad plan if you want to run a second set of rims for (higher profile) winter tyres or track tyres. But you would need some lowering to make it sit well.

I run 18 inch Carrera classic wheels on my C2S for winter. summer / OEM they are 19s. not sure I would go down a size unless you are lowering the car as said above.

I have put some hubcentric spacers on the rear and they sit perfect in the arch. OEM the wheels are 11 inch wide and the 18s are 10 inch so with the spacers they are perfect

the 18s have a bigger tyre profile so the size of wheel and tyre is the same as 19s.

I like 18s for a number of reasons:

- they are lighter and smaller so you get better acceleration and MPG as you are pulling less weight.

- winter tyres in 18s are cheaper and more choice

- the ride is so much better on 18s too and the car just feels more alive on them.

- so much crap and salt on the roads during winter I don't mind trashing them and protect the 19s.

I still love the 19s and summer wheels as they are the sport wheels and they really suit the C2s.

I'm not sure there's a great choice, but anything other than the awful Carrera IVs would be fine for me. I'd put them on and probably wouldn't mess around with lowering.
