|
 |

Hello all,
Just thought I would put feelers out on the forum before I do a deal on a 996TT (40th birthday gift to self).
So I’m trading in my 996 C4 Manual Aerokit. Bought from a member on this forum.
Car details:
1999 (V) registered
74k miles
Zenith blue / Metropole interior
Options:
M030 Sports suspension
Hardback spots seats
18 inch split rim sport classic 2’s
Aluminium dials
Painted centre console
Small carbon pack (gearknob/handbrake)
Sunroof
Stainless sill treadplates
Stainless exhaust finishers
Car has a comprehensive history, OPC and specialist (14 stamps) last serviced Mar 18 at around 73k miles. Last MOT had no advisories, expires Mar 19. 7 previous owners. Overall cosmetic condition is very good, interior excellent, wheels recently refurbished, a few stone chips as you’d expect. Currently on private plates, will go back on to original reg for sale.
So the money bit...I have been offered a trade in price of £18k in a deal from a porsche specialist against a TT, so that is the money I need from a private sale.
Feel free to PM me if interested. Car is not actively advertised for sale anywhere. Hopefully pics have attached successfully...
Many thanks
Russ

Thanks both - I did think it was a decent trade in price however the market seems to be all over the place, so you don't know until you try! I think there are a few dealers who have been left with TT's and want to get shot as the prices "soften"...

In your position I would probably sit tight for a while until the market settles.

To provide some contrast to the previous view, if you are happy with the price and condition of the turbo I’d take the trade in, I think that’s a strong offer. _________________ My 996, AKA Project Ridiculous

None taken! Don’t know where the TT thing came from, I owned one a few years back and it seemed to be the correct technical terminology

18k px for a c4 is strong money. But it all depends on price and condition of the turbo.
I doubt you would get 18k private at the mo _________________ 2007 987 guards red

Twin-turbo I imagine, which is technically correct. _________________ My 996, AKA Project Ridiculous

Personally I'd be asking the dealer how much he'd let the Turbo go for without a trade deal. No doubt the price of it is quite inflated if he's offering you £18k trade price on a car worth more like £15k forecourt price.
If he knocks a big dollop off the Turbo, you can then move yours on here for a more buyer realistic price that works out getting the Turbo cheaper. I'd be tapping up this new Carpenter100 guy in search of a 3.4 996 on here. _________________ 2000 Manual 996 C4 Arctic Silver Convertible

That is a good trade in price, but of course it’s the cost to change for you and the dealer that really matters. At that price I strongly suspect he’ll detail and retail it himself. To move it in the trade (ie over the phone) would be nearer £14k.
I’d hazard £18k on the forecourt and you might get £16k private. I suspect you could get more from a discerning buyer but it would take time. If it’s needs nothing at £16k that would be a brilliant buy.
Take the deal. (IMHO)

£18k is a very strong part-ex price. I suspect that the dealer is looking to reduce the value of the stock he is holding and is factoring in the sale price he is getting for the 996T.
In the current market I doubt that a private buyer will come forward so if the 'cost to change' is acceptable to you I wouldn't wait too long to seal the deal.
Good luck and for giving a fellow 911uk member the chance to buy a nice car at the right price. _________________ 2007 Guards Red 997 Turbo Tiptronic

the correct 'tt' for the996 TT
Lot's of people call it the TT for some reason, we need to find who started this nonsense
I'm off to google 'TT's'

No, just 996t, as the tiptronic was an option. If it was twin turbo then you should see the 993tt referred to as well.
In all seriousness, I am sure people are thinking of it as twin turbo, which does seem odd given that the previous model was also twin turbo. Just ask somdbody who uses that term.
