I have been interested in a Targa, but am put off by so many people saying that when the roof gives problems, which I am told it inevitably will, it will be exceedingly expensive to fix, and cannot be covered by any warranty.

I'm aware that the OPC 2nd hand vehicle warranty is not inexpensive, but I would have expected them to cover any necessary work on a Targa.

Failing any warranty who are the independent experts on Targa problems in the South (Hampshire/West Sussex etc,)

Thanks in advance

The issues with Targa roofs are over rated but luckily there are experts in the field when there are problems ie demort.

I am seriously .. Embarassed atm !

Its a hobby of mine to repair these Targas .. just finished one today actually with another booked in on monday .

There is another place i recomend which is Northway but thats near Reading .. other than us i dont know of anyone i would trust .

Anyways if you want to scare yourself by reading a post about them then here ..

http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=116450

If you have a car thats had cables in the past then its unlikely it will need them again .. if you have a car say 2010 or newer you are years away from needing any work .

Most of the ones i do are 996 or early 997 which is the same roof basically .. but to give you an idea .. in 15 years i have rebuilt only 26 Targa roofs ..

The costs vary between £2300 and £4600 .. thats a rough price for Dec 2018 .

Porsche warrenty should in theroy cover them .. in reality they would probably get it apart and say no .. normal wear and tear .
