OPC washed it when told not to - common experience?

I had faith in the OPC :D

Damage is damage how ever it happens and what ever the damage is .

Most garages try to maintain customer relations .. none of us really want to loose repeat work or indeed sales so when things like this happen they own up and do their best to rectifiy the fault ... ill admit you had to talk to the GM first but you get my drift .

Hopefully the valeter wasnt a contract guy ( OPC,s tend to use these companys more and more ) .. if so hes probably out of a job .

Indeed, not looking to punish any individual especially valeter and appreciate a lot of these guys are hard workers trying to earn money for their kids etc - I'd just politely ask not to wash my car.

This topic will always get mixed comments and some will always scoff....detailing is not everyone's bag and sometimes considered a bit geeky/ocd but then we are all different.
This is a principle thing and the Op in my eyes is not over reacting. I bought a used car from a main dealer and wrongly or rightly bought it over the phone assured it would be prepared to the highest standards. After driving a long way to collect was disgusted to arrive and find it covered in swirls and tree sap. What made it worse is when I raised it with the sales man he picked at the tree sap with his finger nail, and disappeared into the workshop returning with an old T-shirt and some 3m! I had the cars paint corrected by a specialist once home and billed the dealer who paid up! The point is they obviously had ver6 little knowledge of car care or paint protection hence why it is acceptable to ask a dealer not to wash when you have such standards.

...they'll sort your paint work out this time and then rag the arse of it from cold the next time you book it in for a service...

No such thing as a free lunch you know...

Take it to deMort. Failing that, you take a picture of the mileage and agree it with them. Leave a camera on the dash.

A mate did the latter in his Audi, proved they didn't do the work they said, had people sitting on the wings, all sorts. Heads rolled the following day.

Are you talking about the relationship you have with your wife? :)

.....and they will return to have some soup then play more darts in the staff canteen with a paintwork OCD guys face on the board 😁

It's a bit like telling the local chef his food is utter crap, trying to get him sacked then going back the following week for a free lunch......you never know what your going to get.

Love the positivity. Last night I was a tw#t and probably still am, now they are tw#ts and can't be trusted :)
Never mess with a paint geek. I didn't say they would fix it themselves, they want to meet to come to a resolution. It's going to my detailer tomorrow for an assessment.

...paint work assessment!?

I don't think the dealership are going far enough tbh..the least they could do is exhume Ferrys body and try to extract his view on this heinous crime...

:floor:

They should also put the valeter(and his entire family) in stocks outside the dealership and arrange for a free business class/all expenses paid trip to the Porsche factory.

...If this is the reaction to your dealership having the audacity to wash half of your car then goodness knows what happens if Tesco run out of Cornflakes or the sheduled timing of Eastenders is changed?

This thread is making me itch to get out the dual action polisher.......

For the record after having the paint work done in my car, even though Road & Race did a great job on the paintwork, I had some areas of the car that had swirl makes (areas not painted by R&R. To get rid of the swirl marks by doing paint correction, costs over £1,000 depending on who you use. Even if it cost half of that it's still a very real amount of money to shell out if someone messes us up the paint when you've specifically asked them to not touch it as well.

People making light of it clearly don't have the same standards which is fine but at least know the facts before making little of it. I've had terrible scratches put into a car in the past just by someone washing it. I'll dig out the photos if I still have them.

Blimey - still taking up your time and headspace - it's an honour. You clearly think it is fine to do something that someone has asked you not to do irrespective of whether you think it's important. You're not conceited but have every right to be 🤣.

Thanks for visiting, really value your input.
