What did you buy your 997 this week?

Thanks Phil and sorry for late response, Mrs dragged me out to cinema!
Yes I'll see how it runs after fitting with a few miles for ECU to figure it out.
A remap could be on the cards, but looking forward to hearing the new sound!
Queen's a good movie imo :thumb:

Looks great.
Just needs the last piece - 4 X wheel centers.
Much less than a 9e kit 😁

Paint is now curing for the next three months before she gets a full PPF. Will stick stock wheels back on and enter her into regional concours straight after detail and full ppf in March and let you have final verdict then. You'd never guess its an 87,000 mile car from outside or inside. Can't wait to take the car around Europe in next few years :D

Glass out respray courtesy of http://www.autobodytechnic.com who were kindly recommended by 911 Virgin. 80% of their work is trade through RSJ and 911V so figured they must be good

:agree:

Looks fab!

I was also impressed with the work they did on my bumper repair and paint.

Just had the EurocupGT switchable exhaust mufflers fitted by The Porscheshop. Had the factory sports exhaust system originally but the change of rear bumper meant I had to get a system with a single tailpipe outlet each side. Ran with the gundo hack for a bit but fancied something a bit louder. In the end it was down to either the TopGear system or the Eurocup GT. Having read that the outlet diameter was a bit smaller on the TopGear mufflers (meaning that factory tips might be a bit too big to grip properly) I opted for the Eurocup option. All done in a day, have to say that service from the Porscheshop was exceptional.

The noise from these new mufflers is much more evident at the low end, very deep and meaningful, not like the raspiness of some systems and I have to say I prefer it to the factory system, more pleasant on the ear but still giving a great prescence. Didn't go for the 200 cell cats, not sure I really need to as loving it as it is. Would recommend!

Can't wait to get back to UK to hopefully perhaps use her a bit more maybe next year as sadly only used her all of once in 2018 at VMAX. She flew though :D

Replaced all of the exterior trim etc too hence must be the only 87,000 mile turbo in UK which looks almost concours. If anyones ever looking to buy a one owner 2007 manual 997 turbo in perfect condition let me know as I fancy a 720s one day. My 997 turbo has 9e 28 power pack so GT2 RS hybrid turbos etc and circa 800bhp on race fuel. 650bhp on V Power.

(Engine, turbos, exhaust etc were replaced by OPC Hatfield in 2014 at 60,000 miles under warranty which car has been under since new up to installing 9e stuff so has never wanted for anything. Thats when I also installed 9e power kit so in reality engine has only done 27,000 miles.)

Looks like they've doe a cracking job :thumb:

I've bought a CTEK MXS 5.0 trickle charger today, and more importantly this DIY rebuild kit designed specifically for my 997.1 engine.

Sorry I know its a serious issue and some of the people on here have had expensive problems. I also appreciate the brilliant and informative info from Baz and others.

The info on here is priceless but there is also a lot of negativity about the same issue that has been discussed many times.

Its a bit like telling someone their baby is ugly. I accept my car might have a problem one day but if I look after it properly it probably wont. If it does I will pay for it and it will be even more amazing. Either way I expect it will be cheaper than my daughter

At the end of the day we sometimes need a reality check. I am not a rich bloke but have always dreamed of owning a 911 (as lots of people have) I have worked my bollocks off for years and am now fortunate enough to be able to say I actually own one and I love it. So people please stop telling me how ***** it is and that it will fall apart if I take it out of the garage.

Rant over sorry

Ive just realised I have now taken one of the nice threads and introduced the issue that I am moaning about into it. That makes me worse than everyone else.

Minor service, waxoyl to brake pipes, new windscreen wipers and a fresh MOT. Just in time to tuck it away for a couple of weeks.

Two replacement frunk struts - to stop the lid dropping on my head in anything more than a 10mph breeze! Eurocarparts are doing discounts on pretty much everything at the moment. Managed to fit today with freezing fingers.

Side and front silvered indicators now fitted to cure my ocd on the old orange ones. I would post a pic, but there is, literally nothing to see. Which was what I'd intended.

Saving up in 2019 for a RPM-fitted lowering kit as C2 rides too high and centre rad kit.

I bought KW v3 suspension for my c4s, not because I track my car but just so I can get the stance just right, makes the car in my opinion. second time ive fitted kwv3, first c2s had it, gone back for more on my second 997, love KW love my 997,,,
Pics would help for sure but this site is so dated its a mission to post anything
