I may have stumbled across a standard 996 C4S which has had a full engine replacement that is reported to be an X51 engine.

Whilst the X51 feature is intriguing, it's more the rest of the car that first caught my attention. The question is, how much of a premium can the seller reasonably expect since the X51 is a retrofit?

If I went down the 996 C4S route then I'd get a mega miler C4S, plus this,

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/202260800830

and build my own via Porsche Torque or some other quality engine builder :?:

TBH whilst the X51 is interesting, I'm not that fussed to pay much of a premium for it. Car has done 75k and the engine is reported to have done 30k. The C4S happens to be in Speed Yellow which is what first caught my attention! I'm a bit of a sucker for that colour. I checked over a SY wrapped C4S before bought my Arctic Silver one (RIP).

Not sure if it's a Porsche surround. This one is on the Continent. Have you found a UK one?!?

On the right there - an X51 C4S in Speed Yellow. Barely does any miles, but the chap had it at CG for a check over.

I was considering buying it not about X51 but YELLOW :worship:

but price for me to much I would better get cheper one and send to hartech to convert 3.9  new maps and you can start disrupt turbo owners, also you end up with "new" bullet proof engine and still cheaper price

That's the puppy. At the moment, I'm thinking the price is too high, but I am waiting for the full options list from him. With no X51 on the Options code, I'm not sure you can ask for the same premium that a factory-fitted X51 would be.

Ah gotcha! With GT3 alloys too! Lovely. Do we know who owns it?

Thanks for the warning. I've spoken to the owner who seems a pleasant chap. Has a fair collection of 996s. 3 Turbos, a couple of GT2, a GT3 as well - I think! Some of the photos are older than the others.

I will be treading very carefully however. :thumb:

No, he seemed a nice guy but I can't recall his name. However, the guys at Center Gravity will know who he is and I'm sure they could pass on a message.

Thinking of selling my X51 if anyone is interested
