PROJECT HALF A CUP LS3 Swap?

Oh I have done conversions like that too :)
Figured as I had the facility available to me this time I would go a bit more hi-tech and hopefully have a much better final product because of it.
Fingers crossed I will also have the data and parts for others in the future if they want to do the same.

Nice update. I don't think 200kg dry is too bad but there are a lot of fluids in the flat six...

The LS3 is 175kg so I have 25kg to place where I want to for correcting the CofG

Opel Manta

I did my first donut in an Opel Manta. White, white rims, bodykitted, borrowed (of course). I can still remember the exact junction near Guildford. It only gives me mild palpitations to think about it nowadays. It put me off RWD for years.

Hi Jay, another ex Corrado forum user who remembers your car well, a pic i snapped in 2005 - Great to see you doing a 997, just got a Gen2 myself, you might remember my Rado, i had it shipped to Australia with me

Hey Jay,

Remember your Raddo from the Edition 38 meet ups, but never got to see your 964 or 996. Were these also project cars, any pics of them.

I have also now finally decided to let go of my Corrado VR6 and make the move to 911 ownership.

911's seems to be the logical progression for Corrado owners.

Sorry I missed these replies, not been on here enough clearly! Thanks for all the kind words and it definitely seems like a logical progression from Corrado to 911 as there are a lot of ex corrado forum people on here.
I do remember you shipping the Corrado to OZ arthouse. that was dedication. I always loved that shot of the Rado and hope I can be as happy with the 997 as I was with that car!

I have been stripping down and clearing the decks of the 3.8s engine to get it all out of the way so not much actual progress, but the garage is now clear (apart my lads new gokart) and I can start getting on with things.

I didn't get anything under the tree for the 997 so I treated it to these. KW variant 3s in GT3 spec. So will need some little sleeves for the front struts, but they will let me get it sitting where I want it and be good enough for a bit of track work when I get the urge.

Roll on 2019!

I stumbled across this thread last night which looked like an interesting project. Does anybody know what happened after it stopped dead at the end of 2018?

Thanks. Presumably now with a new engine and going strong somewhere

Yes sadly he aborted the project , but Dr Jim Bone who I mentioned in 2018 has completed his Cayman LS3 build and after overcoming one or two cooling issues that they hadn't anticipated eg how do you cool a 6.2 ltr V8 when its mid engine mounted but additional oil and water cooling solved those issues and its on the road, and what a monster of a car it is Bournemouth OPC looked wide eyed as we drifted it past them with the V8 growling away , Its one of those cars you just cant help having a stupid grin on your face when your in it. It always makes me laugh as people turn when they hear it expecting to see a 70s American muscle car and they are faced with a Small German sports car :floor: :floor: note the carpet is now all tidy and back in place and a new leather covered custom made engine cover sits over the V8 monster :thumb:
