full geometry set up in the south west

Can anyone recommend a competent garage to do a full geometry set up in the south west on a 993 ??

Have previously used two highly thought of specialists in the south but both have let me down with very poor work on geometry!

I know Centre of Gravity are highly recommended but are a long way from me.
I'm in Ringwood, near Bournemouth.

Try giving 9e a call. Based in Horley Near Gatwick. You won't be disappointed. Tell Ken or Adam Faried sent u over

I'm the same distance north of Centre Gravity as you are south of it. Approx 3.5 to 4 hours. I booked in advance, stayed overnight near CG and was with them early doors. They had me complete with a full Geo set up in 4 hour hours and I was on my way home after lunch. It was well worth the effort and the workmanship was excellent with improvements to handling, road holding and tyre wear. :thumb:

I made the trip from Bolton to CoG twice with the 993 and 944 well worth the effort. Both cars were transformed after I'd done a complete suspension rebuild on both cars. Alas the 993 will never handle or corner as well as the 944, just lacks the straight line speed.

It depends what you want. Basic need is a company with a recently calibrated set-up ramp and a component spanner person.

Next, components overhaul or just set-up?

Do you want them to set-up for your driving style/you tell them what settings you want and discuss?

For all of the above CoG and cover a wide range of cars so 993 no problem. I go to CoG each year from Exeter.

Brookspeed run race cars so presume must have capability. 9e have good feedback on here. Parr seem a bit Marmite with Love/No Love comments. Regal in Southampton do a lot of modifications inc suspension but mainly modern VAG/BMW.

Thanks for all replies so far.
The shocks and springs have done 11,000 careful miles but the top mounts seem to be original on this 74 ,000 mile car.
What are your thoughts please ?
Would you go to COG for example and spend on a full set up or get those top mounts changed first?
What mileage should I expect on the dampers and springs before a need for replacement?

if you are going to COG....Then imho I would get them to change them ? The have a fantastic reputation

I would not change anything until you've been to CoG. You might not need to change those parts - CoG will give an honest appraisal. My car is '94 on 104k and CoG have just told me that top mounts (and shocks) are in great condition so no need to change. Each car is slightly different.

I'm in Ferndown... just down the road. Post a pic of your car so I can see if it was you I had a conversation with through your sunroof! :floor:

I live in Devon and made 2 trips to COG earlier this year prior to an annual road trip. Well worth it, wouldn't consider anywhere else.

Is there anyone who can do this setup in the Southampton / Portsmouth areas?

I had coilovers fitted at Brookspeed in Eastleigh, which meant them doing a full alignment as part of the process. They charge around £120 including VAT. As another poster said, they run three race cars and I thought they seemed very knowledgeable, if a little disorganised. I'm pleased with the end result though.

The other place I've used is the Wheel Alignment Centre in Southampton, near IKEA. It's a one man band but he really knows his stuff and prices are reasonable.

Thank you that is a good recommendation, I haven't heard of The Wheel Alignment Centre but will check them out.

I would dearly like to take it to COG however just don't seem to find the time at the moment.
