Well it was time for the old annual oil and filter change, all went to plan and I got it done and dusted in 1 1/2 hours, I'm getting good at it now. Only covered 3467 Kms since the last one so note to myself .... need to get out in her a bit more.
Anyway, while I had the car in the air and the rear RHS wheel off I thought I'd take out the starter motor and give it a service/ clean.... what ever it needed. I failed miserably. I dropped the engine off the mounts which gave more space but just couldn't seem to get an allen bit on the lower bolt, forget about the top one :frustrated: You need the hands of a child with the strength of Superman. I was able to get the cables off and back on but that was it. To add insult to injury when I reconnected the battery the car turned over on its own without the key in the ignition Re-dropped the engine :x and removed the cables and reinstalled, this time all OK, I must have bridged the solenoid but the wires looked to be in the same place as they were before removal :dont know:
Anyone got some tips? Mine is a Tiptronic so don't know if this makes it more difficult?
I will have another go in a few days ... after the cuts and bruises have healed
