Door check strap, A post repair

My drivers side check strap has ripped itself out of the A post as they do.
The garage who have priced to do the job are advising that i have both sides done even though the passenger side is still ok.
Do i go ahead and get both side repaired and strengthened or leave the near side as is? I see the advantage of having it done then its done but part of me doesn't like the thought of the A post being chopped into when its ok.

Given the passenger door is likley to be opened/closed less than the drivers I'd leave it.

You can 'spot-weld' these check-straps if you don't want the body chopped. How visible it will be depends on the skill of the welder though

The divers side had been crudely spot welded previousley and now need doing properly.

Cut and shut job then :what:

Who's doing the work?
These really need to be strengthened to ensure it doesn't happen again, so you'll need a experienced fabribricator/Porsche specialist.

Spot welds fail and are a bodge.

double post

Ninemeister did my driver's side about 5 yrs ago, you just can't see the join.
N/S is original 24 yrs old.

Both of mine were shot, now repaired pre-spay job, done properly but not easy or cheap to do right. But to me the clicking door ruins the experience.

No reason why any competent welder or bodyshop can do this at a reasonable price.
Typically most go with a Pork specialist and pay the obligatory Porsche Tax...
