Hi
just thought i would ask on here, my door mirror passenger side has started to go like a gold color from the bottom i pulled it off to identify it it looks like its one of the auto dimming type it has 4 wires to it and the glass is surrounded by a plastic edge, not just a plane piece of glass.

my question is can anybody recommend where to buy one from.

2006 997 C4

thanks

....and be prepared to cushion yourself as you fall to the floor upon hearing the price!

The auto dimming ones are prohibitively expensive compared to standard ones - may be worth waiting for one to come up one fleabay or go for a standard one!

Hi just thought i would let you know what i found out,
first spent hours on the internet and learnt a lot how auto dimming mirrors work and how they are made, found a couple of outfits claiming they can repair said type of mirror the Car Wing mirror specialist and someone called Mirror John but they dont even bother to answer E-Mails so do not hold a lot of hope with them.

so decided to go to OPC in Alicante got the spares department to look up the part.......577.09 euro
i asked if that was price for a complete mirror fitted No thats just for the glass

In the UK they are about £360 each. I bought two a few years ago when i changed my mirrors to gen.2

thanks for that its still an eye watering amount for a mirror. my mirror is still usable so will keep looking

cheers for the info

John - as another option - I just put the standard heated mirror glass in mine and its fine - its a fraction of the cost and the central internal mirror still dims which is the one were you need it the most. Otherwise just keep a close eye on ebay!
