$50k for tyres....has the man never heard of "Kwik Fit"

"Holy Gosh!"

Here's one for anyone tempted by a 'cheap' 12C.

Ouch, two interesting videos thanks guys.

I definitely won't be getting an F1 now which is disappointing because I'm already 5 years into a 384 year savings plan to buy one.

Yep, its a different world......

I know the guy who owned the first Bugatti Veyron in the UK, ex Geneva Motor Show car which had the reg B1. It was featured in lots a mag articles at the time as Bugatti would not let the press have a car.

I had the pleasure of being in that car many times, unforgettable experience BUT the running cost where unbelievable. To be fair he put over 10k miles on the car which is a lot for exotica like this. I remember him telling me he had a flat in it....... cost him £15k for x1 new tyre  ..... the car had to be collected, trailored to London... to the ONLY ramp / facility in the UK approved to lift the car for a new tyre to be fitted and then trailored back. The did it all in 24 hours but £15k for the pleasure.

different world

The thing is : all cars are heading in that direction and have been for quite a while now. The ownership costs of the F1 have been widely documented for many years and who wouldn't expect owning a Bugatti to cost silly money, but the McLaren situation is just a more drastic extension of where Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini and the rest are going. Lets face it - you wouldn't run a 991.1 GT3 out of warranty either and some of the reasons for that extend further across the model range (the electric rear steer actuators are a particular example, but in general since the 991 if anything electronic goes then you are going to get a ridiculous bill and no aftermarket alternatives to bring that down).

And here's me thinking I was hard done by, when I had to pay 284eur for a rear light on my wife's 2016 GTI which had cracked.

I then learned from a Land Rover specialist that a Bentley Continental rear light is 2284eur, and you might need two if it's the wrong year and no longer available...

I'll stick to my Porsche.

The annual warranty cost is eye-watering and there is the suggestion you don't buy/run one without a warranty in place

I'm sure vroomvroom can spill the beans

The Yellow F1 that was on the market recently with delivery miles only and plastic still covering all the interior presents an interesting proposition. To get the car ready for the road, a bunch of rubber related items and seals would most likely need replacing. On top of that, youd have to replace other items that would need replacing not because of mileage, but because of age.
Deep pockets to buy, deeper pockets to maintain and run.
Lets face it, the car I'm talking about isn't ever likely to see the road, only ever to be punted from one collector to another like a Picasso.

I was in Alfa at Knutsford today to 'discuss' a price for the 4C. It'll be on c700 at yr1. It's not the lowest they've seen (at this point I was wondering if Jonttt brought his 993 here  ) as a chap who owns an 8C as well brings his 4C for annual service on a trailer - 2yr service 44 miles covered

(Jonttt I can get his details if you want to borrow the trailer :thumb: )

Definition of "Art" according to Oxford Dictionary.
"The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power"
The 8C falls into the above definition for me. 44 miles, he must be furious with that
Last night was the repeat of "How its made:Dream Cars Alfa 4C" and I'd argue that if it had a Prancing Horse on the front it would be £130k+. So perhaps you should start trailering yours for in for your yearly service.
