996 early C2 - Ownership/project thread (cobalt blue)

I love seeing someone suffer in such a similar way to myself - almost allows me to justify my own self inflicted suffering :floor:

Soon as you start looking at wheels you also start looking at weights and geo set up, etc
- I came so close to a set of Mk2 GT3 wheels, as I love the look of them.... but those things are pretty damn wide and heavy!!!

Have you considered a set of 18" Carrera lightweights? - I kind of snubbed these at first, but they are clean and sharp looking (5 spoke) and I think(?) they even pan out as the lightest factory 18" wheels you can get....

I have a narrow body 996.1 and keep re-embracing its simple clean rounded lines.... dropping it 30mm below standard factory height on Ohlins makes it look like a damned speed racer with the Carrera lightweight wheels.... : )
- saying that, I came damned close to going full Ruf kit on it (they seem to be the only big "tuning house" that embraced the narrow body cars over the wide body) - in the end I opted for a set of their 'Sport mirrors' (which make my car even narrower and sleeker :D ).... and the price of which had the added bonus of reining in my ideas of a full Ruf kit!

Here's the Carrera lightweights on Ohlins at X74 ride height, which is 30mm below stock:

I was just offered a set of those, I like them for sure. The guy wasn't too keen on my current spec though so its not going ahead. I agree when lowered the NB does look a lot better.

Luckily Im not exactly in a bad position with current look/spec but I catn help but tinker.

Practical sports car!

Weeks outing to West coast, car performed great coming over. Suitcase under that tray as well. Glad I got a C2 now

Putting it to good use there! Looks great in that first shot. 8)

It's great up there, wish I was back up there this year.

Also found this shot on my phone. Good comparison of front bumpers.

I'm more leaning to STD bumper now.

Great to see your progress. It's shaping up very nicely

Where did you source the 964 styling piece?

Need to secure one first. Still deliberating on what one.
Going in for clutch and some other things next week so will wait until that's done just to be sure.

Managed to get a temp solution for fitting centre caps but fitting them tonight noticed couple of tyres were low, I think the metal valves are leaking. Arse.

Here's quick photo of the 964 styling piece, not sure.

Cheers
I know you've moved on but fwiw I think it kind of worked, but I'm intrigued how it might look with a Matt silver finish & fuchs like earlier models

Topgear mild silencers orders tonight as I've noticed one of mine blowing a lot more now.
Nice night tonight.

Beautiful!

I'd have happily swapped your night for mine. 12 hour nightshift here.
Mind you my young colleague has just picked up his RS4 today so we are going for a play in that at midnight. :driving:

Ha, oooh I'm about to disappoint you. It's an '06 avant. My favourite shape actually. They only made 'em from '05 to '08 didn't they.

Silver supposedly but reminds me of moonstone blue on the old Cosworths. 65k with the proper seats not those comfy things. Nice thing. He's only 23.
