Air Con Issue

Had a potential issue with the air con on my 2013 958 Cayenne today.

The air was much warmer coming out of the driver's side vents than it was through the passenger side vents, eventhough the climate control was set at the same temperature both sides.

Did a bit of internet trawling and it appears that this is a common problem in the warmer parts of the USA during the summer months and is caused by the chilled air escaping through the spring clip apertures of the vents and interfering with the infra red interior temperature sensor readings, which is located close to the driver's central vent. It senses the cold air and automatically reduces the temperature of the air coming out of the driver's side vents. The extremely warm weather we have experiencing over the past few days has brought this issue to light.

Porsche North America has actually provided a kit to fix the problem which is nothing more than some felt tape patches which are affixed around the spring clips to reduce said leakage of cold air. It does involve taking out the central vent, but there are a couple of You Tube videos explaining how to do this.

A temporary solution is to angle the direction of air flow from the central vent away from the driver and towards the centre / passenger side, which solves the problem.
