Wayne at Chipwizards

Really good to hear the positive feedback for Wayne, I'd heard he was the man to go to! I need a remap on my 997 since fitting a carbon twin intake induction system to suit my bewinged decklid. Lost a lot of low down torque and a nice big flat spot around 2000 rpm! Searching around its obvious that most so called mapping specialists can only upload a modified map that they buy from a middleman!

Will booking in a soon as my currently being rebuilt engine has been run in! :D

A potentially silly question, but here goes...

I'm planning on getting the clutch replaced at some point later this year. Is it wise to wait until this is done before booking in for a remap? i.e. would existing clutch life have any bearing on Wayne's ability to map / make the day most productive?

Car needs to be in tip top condition for anything like that.

Great thread and just goes to show that taking your car to a proper tuner give results, unlike many of the cheap junk remaps available for the corsa brigade . I have always heard good reports about Wayne I was equally pleased with DMS in Southampton for all the same reasons as the OP was with wayne. :thumb:

What's the realistic increase in bhp/torque on the 997 Phil? Does the remap need to be bundled with other mods for it to be worthwhile? Noticeable change in driveability?

Given I have a number of warranties running on my car, it's probably not something I can consider in the near term - but perhaps once those have expired.

The clutch won't make any difference unless its slipping. The 993 clutches are self adjusting so its unusual for them to slip unless they are completely worn.

true, but with him mentioning getting it done i'm assuming he has had an issue already, you certainly dont want to have to abort mid dyno because of known issues. an additional 15-20bhp isnt going to tax a good clutch however.

Thanks - I should've mentioned it's not slipping at all, it's just on the to do list as its the original clutch, bite point is closer to the floor rather than midway of the pedal travel (!) and is super stiff too. Was advised to look at a replacement in a few thousand miles.

The question was posed to ensure maximum value is gained from the trip to Chipwizards, i.e. would it be better with a brand new clutch or just as fine with my 87k mile clutch, or no difference.
Judging by jonttt's comments, so long as its not slipping, no issues re: remapping...

87k is doing well if original clutch! :thumb:

May be consider the MPL clutch Slave Cylinder while you're at it.

Just had my 993 optimised for smooth running and torque at Chipwizards, and I have to say that I am very pleased indeed with the very worthwhile improvements which Wayne was able to make on the standard map. Highly recommended :D

Thanks for the reminder 9xxnick. I took my 993 C4 to Wayne a few weeks back. Great guy and a very enjoyable drive back to the East Midlands afterwards.

As others have said, the power difference is negligible but delivery is so much smoother. It was recording a very pleasing 284.5HP when it arrived (not at all bad after 90k+ miles), and left with an additional 15+HP. Great all round experience and highly recommended, especially if you get to drive back on windy roads on a sunny day in the the Peak District!

Wayne sorted my C4S
Power up to just over 300bhp
However, the mid to top end revs power is really there now.
Much more drivable. He is in Rawtenstall near Accrington.
Drop me a pm if you want his no.
Or just google chipwizards
Even though there's no turbo aspect the difference is so noticeable.
