Stereo on but intermittently no sound from speakers

I have the CDR 23 in my 03 Boxster and just recently the sound from the speakers has completely disappeared on a random basis. It can be off for a few hours at a time. Stereo unit is on and appears normal. Checked the fuse and pushed all connectors into the amp to make sure there was nothing loose.

Any ideas? Failing that any recommendations for a company local to Billericay in Essex to take a look /fix/upgrade?

It's non Bose - just plain standard crap Porsche sound.
 
I had the classic 'Sound package plus' issue. Sent it to our forum friend in Norway for a fix. Was cheaper than the chumps in the UK too!

I'd go with him.
 
Maybe a little complicated to arrange. Called a local company but they never got back to me which doesnt fill me with confidence.

Contemplating going the whole way and replacing the unit with a double din with sat nav and decent speakers. Just need to find a company to give a quote.
