My 996.2 C2 Rebuild

Thanks all. Looking forward to getting it back to excellent condition again.

Looking really good in that last pic. You're flying through your list of jobs.

Unfortunately IMS isn't worth going into on here anymore. You'll more than likely be spoken down to and get no further forward.

All you can do is read up on the old threads and make a decision that you see as best. Harv on here has fitted new IMS bearings albeit during rebuilds not pulling it out in situ, so he'll know where to source an original spec/style item and it won't be silly money like an LN item. Maybe ping him a message.

I look forward to seeing your car when it's done. :thumb:

I've had quite a bit of work done recently including new end, aos and clutch. Suspension and brake work include, fitted new Koni Special Active shocks and new springs, new coffin arms and drop links, new top mounts and bearings, new air con rads and re gassed and a brake overhaul. It now drives like new.Thrilled!!! I can not recommend the Koni shocks enough Bilstein PSS10s are utterly rubbish in comparison for road use. I race cars so know a good suspension set-up. Keep the Bilsteins for track use only . The Koni Special Active replace the old FSD design.

The Koni Special Active are just released for the 996. I did fit the springs. Approx 1" drop, very similar to a M030 ride height

Thinking of refurbishing my original wheels but changing the colour. Any suggestions ??

Which springs did you fit with the Koni's?

I'm looking at suspension options for mine... I read somewhere that FSD's aren't suitable for use with lower springs, but sounds like your happy with yours.

I want to go -30 f&r.

Would you mind giving a review on the ride quality of the Koni FSD damper and Vogtland spring combination please, we're you on standard suspension before? Are the Vogtland spring softer or stiffer than standard?

Any trouble with ground clearance or geo alignment now that you are 30mm Lower?

great pics :thumb: if you're ever up the northcoast giz a shout

Thanks guy's, The FSD (Special Active) have transformed the car. Have used standard and Bilstein PSS10S . They lower the car about 20mm on the Special Active shocks. It is more comefortable than standard yet stiffen up when driving hard. It blew me away, Bilsteins are just about unusable on the country roads where I live
