Rare Riviera Blue 993 newly restored

Well thank you for that.......

So just to lighten the mood, here's another pic of that 'surgery clean' engine bay.....

Mike, lovely engine bay, I've recently given my engine a makeover, I have the fan surround painted in what was going to be my choice of body colour (Ocean Blue - the original), I've had a change of plan and now going for Mexico. So I may change the fan surround again, what colour and paint did you use for the fan surround?.

Some guys in the US seem to like Dupli Color Engine Enamel, colour 1651 Cast Coat Iron. However for the life of me I cannot source this in the UK.

Any tips gratefully received..

Trev

Hi Trev, the fan surround is magnesium so the correct OE finish is a chromate dip to the raw metal. It is a fragile finish though and has to be well looked after, the sheen here is WD40.

Came across this one on a rally 4 years ago. Sadly the owner at the time has since died.
Wow been a while since I've seen L8 LUE !!
That car was the catalyst for me getting into a 993 - did a lemans trip in it with a former owner about 11 years ago - interesting to see a recent (ish) pic - Car has an interesting history !!

Thanks! It's only when you see the colour in a sea of silvers, blacks and dark blues as here in the CLM Porsche Club of France car park, that you realise how rare an original Riviera is.

I thought it very kind of the organisers to make the 993 parking area sticker the same colour........

After Le Mans headed down to the Hotel de France, a wonderful place where the Aston works teams were based back in the fifties.

Great place to chill out for a few days after the Le Mans crowds had gone. Number plate seemed to go down well in France!

Gorgeous and nice to see it being used. :worship:

I was trying to remember what that hotel above was, just the other day, as we had a ride out to it for lunch once from the 24hour LM.
I could remember the village (Chatres?) but that was all. Some great pics and memorabilia on the walls. Anyone who was anyone stayed there during the 50's and 60's.

Anyway, as you were. Oh and keep the great pics coming. Cracking thread. :thumb:

Thanks Marky, the hotel is in La Chartres-sur-le-Loir, which is about 45 mins south of Le Mans. It's incredible to think they drove the cars on the road from there to the circuit, and yes as you say full of old photos and scrap books from the day, and the rooms are named after the drivers of that era.

Awesome pics and road trip. :thumb:

That 72/73 RS looks stunning. Is the colour Olive, as I've never seen an RS in that combo before?

C.

its a genuine RS in chartreuse. Early 911's always look great in that colour
