Hello all, first post here!

I'm on a path that seems all too familiar around these parts at the moment, the search for a decent manual C4S below 25k :D

A few cars I keep coming back to are these, any thoughts on them?

(I drove this one and loved it, just a tad over the budget.

Welcome along!

I was going to say I'd be trying to stretch the budget for the car you drove and loved.
It looks like Phil Raby properly sorts the cars he sells. MOT with any advisories attended to and 6 months warranty from himself.

An extra £2k/£3k may seem a stretch but it's a tiny price for trouble free motoring in a sorted car.

But...

Reading the advert again it doesn't mention suspension refresh, rads, condensers, waterpump, LTT, coolant flush, AOS, etc etc.

So on reflection yeah don't bother. Just because a car has been serviced and has no mot advisories doesn't mean it doesn't need thousands spending on it.
Suspension alone can cost thousands for all new components plus coilovers.

You want an enthusiast owned car off the likes of here.
See what HSC comes back with. :thumb:

Enjoy the search but be aware of potential mechanical woes. Especially borescore on the 3.6.

I was always told the c4s have the highest ims failures on all the models and to avoid the low mileage cars as they are prone for failure and anything over 129k are less likely to fail if had regular oil changes. Correct me if I'm wrong I'm going back 3 years now

love the first one but I'm a bit blue biased. Interior is a bit marmite.

Had you seen [/url]http://911uk.com/ads_item.php?id=8340

I like be the rear bumper on the black last one , can anyone identify it as it's not stock . Anyone please?

See Alex IMS thread: http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=100994

Some low mileage examples may fail (as can high miles) but again I think the odds are fairly limited and failures are more down to the overall type/s of usage, drive cycles, owners etc.

I had heard that tips are more prone to bore score than MT's but then again there is no clutch assembly to go wrong and a tip is less likely to have had the engine thrashed by a wannabe race driver

What happens at 130k :?:

Hi
The first on the list has good history and clutch/ ims replaced

996

I think you will struggle a bit to find one that matches
All your needs.dont rush into it if you have to save
Some more money to buy the right car then that's
What you have to do.ims etc etc dont concern yourself
With all the scare mungering, get the car inspected
And drive it.bore scoring can happen anytime as can the ims bearing
No matter what checks you have done.if all you are going to do is think about
These issues you won't enjoy your car

Good luck on the search....they are amazing cars but your search will also highlight the market is swamped with dogs.
These cars were very cheap to buy at one stage and whilst prices have risen the bargain Porsche for mondeo money is there to bite....I unfortunately found this out the hard way and that was after viewing 6 cars, carrying out a PPI and doing what I believed to be due dillegence!
If you get a good one the tick so many boxes.....i wouldn't rule out another one of these, I loved mine but for me to buy another it would need to have had the Hartech treatment.

I've owned mine now for 3 years - i've done c30k miles in that period and she's never let me down. Every miles a smile.

I spent 4 hours washing and polishing her at the weekend; its a beautiful sunny day here in Bristol and i've just been out at lunchtime for a golf lesson - drove there all the way with the roof down listening to Radio PSE playing all my favourite tunes.

Hope you find a nice example - when you do make sure you get a full PPI by a reputable source. If they say its fine then buy and drive her like you stole her. 8)

Good luck with your search and keep refreshing this thread and let us all know how you get on; when you get close to biying her don't be afraid to come on here and ask any questions - no matter how daft you think they might be.

When you are parting with your hard-earned there's no daft questions m8. :thumb:

Hi

All 5 cars look stunning in the adds I loved the lapis blue car until I met with the mustard interior which kinda put me off. When I was looking last year lapis blue was my first choice colour but after a few months gave up & went for a black on black c4s. After nearly a year im happy with my colour choice & if I had to do it all again I may be tempted to look at the c4s from M.R Sportscars. Don't rush I went looking for aprox 3/4 months. Happy hunting let us all know how you progress.
