And whilst we're at it:

...I suggest that to obtain a real world 'feel' for ims failure phone a few Porsche specialists and speak with them...I did and every one had engines requiring rebuilds because of failure and I believe hartech do about one engine per day ?

Phoned hartech to discuss the IMS issues and specifically if I should have it replaced..Grant told me that having read the stories I had scared myself...advise was just drive the car and forget about the bearing...

...sorry Alex but you are talking rubbish in respect to the IMS

OK so we are done talking about IMS  thats good as every post Alex has to make on the subject is taking him away from inventing the ultimate shifter  So your car is 95% likey to be good so when your enjoying driving it you need the ultimate shifter .

The 997 GT3 shifter is not a short throw but is shorter than the 996 std shifter it has the metal bushings to give it the great rifle action gear change.

the 997 SSK is short but comes with nylon bushings that give slop and not an ideal gear shift .

and heres where Alex comes in, taking the theory of the rifle action metal bushings improving on it and then adding it to a SSK ,I can see this being a must have for many of us 996 /997 /986/ 987 owners who enjoy driving our cars and not worrying about what may or maynot happen in the future . So please stop distracting him :floor: :floor: :floor:  :thumb:

just one minor 2p's worth before I regret saying else....

If someone is selling an "IMS Solution" then it's in their interest to push their product by whatever sales tactics they feel necessary. However misguided / unscrupulous this sales technique may be...
I'm thinking of door to door Insurance salesmen and vulnerable old ladies...

Interesting that Hartech don't sell any "solution" isn't it?
With their reputation, they could make a fortune, couldn't they?
Makes me question the validity of these solutions... Maybe it's just me.
