3.4 variocam solenoid. Resealing?

Noticed I have a minor oil weep from my NS variocam solenoid. Looking online it looks as if the seal is part of the cover plate, anyone tried to reseal with a smear of rtv silicone using the old plate or do I need a new cover plate. If so any help with the part number appreciated
 
996.105.223.52 lid £14.31 each

I would replace as the seal is likely to have gone hard.
