Engine mounts - 996 options...

The Rennline's on mine were installed just last week, and yep they are a bit pricey. Think it was £340 inc discount.

As said, noticeable NVH which is like a constant thrum which you can feel in the driver seat, but trade-off for me was the massive improvement in the gearshift

give them a couple of thousand miles they do settle and bed in which does improve the NVH a lot :thumb:

When someone has fitted or if someone has already fitted the 993RS mounts or the aftermarket versions can they do a review especially someone who can compare to semi solids and stock . thanks :thumb: :thumb:

think I've found them.

that's them. but you need the fitting kit and the washers too

good thread here: http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=124899&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=engine+mounts&start=20

attached is the picture of my basket from design 911 with all the bits you need.

you also need these washers from ebay too and cheaper to buy there as x5 than from porsche or design 911:

here is the list as priced up on Type 911

£165 delivered. result.

if you remove line item 4 and then order through ebay then you will save yourself another £25 so £140 all in for 993 RS mounts

Good post Nick, I will save that ,but do you mean cancel item 4 not 5 and get of ebay :thumb:

you are right phil sorry yes delete line 4 - the washers.

I have Porsche 993 RS mounts fitted to a 996.

The items sold by D911 are pattern parts, I am not sure about those from Type911. - The Porsche items have a 964 part number cast into them, originally fitted to 964 RS. - If anyone wants a picture let me know.

The standard 996 mounts are from a 993 Carrera while the 964 RS mounts were fitted to the 993 RS.

The RSS mounts are based on the Porsche RS mounts. I believe RSS increased the shore of the rubber marginally.

I did the mod with a raft of other items so can not comment on their effect in isolation, however I have not noticed any real increase in NVH.

I would be interested to hear thoughts on these against RSS. I like the feel of the RSS mounts in the turbo as a focussed road car. They quietened down the chatter from the LWFW at idle and just made the back end feel a bit tighter. I was amazed as I wasn't expecting much. I was so impressed that I'm looking at new mounts for the C2 and C4. Being tight I obviously want best bang for my buck.

I am looking to go for the 993 RS engine mounts as they are not as harsh as semi solid and £200 for the whole kit.

...

RSS or Torque solutions mounts will induce more noise into the cabin that's for sure.

that sounds perfect for my 16yo 996tt, it's solely a road car, but it does have a recent Bilstein PSS10 suspension.

I'll check out the guides to see how difficult it is to diy.

Excellent, thanks for that.

Seeing some parts at a reasonable price is a pleasant surprise, I've just paid my local indy specialist nigh on £3k after buying my first Porsche

Ordered all the bits, came to a grand total of £85.36

964/993 RS HD engine mounts from carparts4less, used a discount code MAD15.

Good post thanks

chrikey uk996 that is a right result.

can you post up a pic of the engine mounts when you get them to make sure they are the RS ones and not OEM 996?

How did you find these on the GT3? Also is there a fitting instructions wouldn't want to get washers the wrong way round..

Thanks
