Adrian Flux just quoted me about half of my Aviva renewal. The provider AF quoted is Marker Study. They specialise in niche customers like us.

10k miles p.a.
£200 xs accident.
£80 xs windscreen
3rd party on other cars
courtesy car included
£100k legal cover
nc protected

Repairs at my chosen garage in event of accident.

Aviva were impossibly painful to deal with when someone hit me on a traffic island, but ultimately everything was settled satisfactorily.

I just cant pay twice the price though...so want to know if anyone has experience of Marker Study.

Thanks
Mark

It's second-hand from other forums that I frequent but their reputation is not good at all.

As you know, I deal with a lot of insurers from the claims side of things.

They don't take phone calls from third party representatives a lot of the time, and they cling to every penny as though it's their own money.

At least their call centre is in England.

However, they're all as bad as each other. Personally I'd just buy on price.

My very first car Insurance policy was with this bunch of cowboys...think they are based in Gibraltar?!

I wouldn't go near them as they were awful when I made a claim...that was a while ago now tho! Ultimately, you want an insurer that pays out at the end of the day...

Mm...thanks guys. pondering.

Difficult. I really don't like a fight, much rather have a peaceful life.

I echo the sentiments here...cheapest price, but you pay for that in appalling service when making a claim. They tried every trick in the book to delay payment when i made a claim, tried to undervalue the car by some £10K, even when challenged by my Gap Insurers to substantiate the valuation. In the end i provided them with a fully documented Glass's trade valuation through a friend in the trade and then backed down. Oh and once finally settled they refused to insure me for a replacement car !!

Simply don't use them.

Thought the name rang a bell...

Just flicked though my old Insurance certificates, was with Markerstudy last year via my Insurance with Classicline. This year it changed to Equity Red Star, maybe CL don't like them?

But you know what?

I never actually look at who underwrites it. I don't really scrutinise anything like that really if I'm honest. I know it's bad but if I went that path then I'd need to do all the house stuff, Mortgage, home insurances, life insurances, pensions, pet insurances, phone insurances, bike, van etc...

I figure you will spend your whole life and die without ever finding the best deal for all your stuff at any one time.

I'd rather take the loss and have the time.

True, I have my head even further in the sand. I don't insure anything else, just the car.
The money spent on Insurance, and the cost vs the claims+increased costs means that insuring everything makes no sense to me.

However, as a man of limited means, I need to be careful. 20 mins online and on the phone and I halved the quote. But not going to jump in blindly because having made a claim recently with Aviva, I know how 'criminal' these companies can be.

I go through Bridle and am renewing at the moment. Bridle have told me that Marker Study comes in 20% cheaper than my previous insurers (Classic Car Insurance), so maybe they are making a push into porsches/sports cars. I am moving to an agreed value policy, not sure if MS will do that.

Mines coming up for renewal, QuoteMeHappy are in the running.

Bringing up an old thread from the past but just used Bridle Insurance who have recommended MarkerStudy.

Online reviews aren't great but £300 cheaper than everyone else.

Any thoughts on whether to use them or not?

My 914 and 911 are on a classic policy through Peter James as the broker and marker study are the underwriters.
In 2016 I claimed for a new screen in my Boxster and last year claimed for a screen in my 914.Both times the claim was dealt with smoothly.
