Im looking at options for connecting my phone to the OE fit Becker in my 99 Carrera. Im not fussed about bluetooth for calls, im more concerned about connecting the phone to play music and charge it.

I have searched on here lots, but not come up with anything clear.

Has anyone tried the Xcarlink kit?

I tried one of the cable only connections into the CD changer port and it didnt work. It will charge my phone, but wont play any music.

Guys so you are saying this will fit my 997 gen 1 with the standard BOSE OEM system?
It does not have the multi cd changer fitted so the socket for cables will be there ready? :dont know:

There are several different solutions we are discussing on this thread: the Bluetooth cigar lighter FM transmitter which kaz750 linked to works on any car as it takes the Bluetooth signal them transmits is as an FM radio signal which the car radio then picks up like A normal radio station.

the sound quality of an FM transmitter will not be as good as direct cable connection but I can't comment in absolute terms as I have not tried a decent quality one, it might well be OK for you, and they are pretty cheap and instant to fit so maybe worth a try.

The cable solutions I don't know as I'm not familiar with the 997 setup.

I'm trying much the same solution as wasz, but a direct hard wire, car in bits at the moment so not completed this little project yet, but intending to pull power off the CD changer mini iso to hook up the Bluetooth thing using the following bits I ordered a few weeks back

Guide to iso connector and a voltmeter!

Just checking, can you guys turn on your becker cdr22 without the keys being in the car? I.e. it has a constant 12v feed?

Finally got all my bits and my voltmeter and some time so managed to locate a 12v output from the CD changer socket, but it's constantly live and I need a switched one for the hardwire Bluetooth so might have to chop into the loom which is irritating, unless I can find another pin which is switched 12v, there must be one..

Hi, I have the CDR-23 but with no amplifier, CD changer or door speakers (my car is a club sport GT3). The CDR-23 was also constant live, with no MOST but connected to the HVAC via the BUS.

Long story short, I spliced a constant live from the HVAC (blue and black cable).

Matt

Sorry, that should read 'spliced a REMOTE live' from the HVAC
