Negative Review: Stratton Motor Co & Autowerke Norwich

No embarrassment at all, you placed your trust with Autowerks with a quite expensive PPI and they have failed you, £500 loss from the car and £300 out of pocket for a useless PPI, as they are local to each other do you think there is something going on between them?

Hard to call whether to walk away with an £800 hit and they both get away scot free or take them to the cleaners. There may be some stress but I assume you have already gone through the worst of it and everything else should be plain sailing for the rest of the way.

Take the money, forget about it and move on! You will save yourself £500 worth of stress if you end the tawdry affair now.

Such a shame as this is my first 911, I wasn't going to take any chances and bought from an OPC for peace of mind, love the car (C4S), get yourself another asap.

Swamps :)

I have been a little reluctant to mention anything about the dealer in question as they are extremely unreasonable and I would worry it would jeopardise the only offer I have from them at the moment but I would also hate for anyone else to go through the same crap as I have.

It's Stratton Motor Company in Long Stratton near Norwich. It's a privately run Aston/Lotus dealership....their website leads you to believe they are very reputable, but they have a complete disregard for customer care!

I said I would not name and shame out of respect, but the latest email I received earlier this evening boiled my blood!

To cut a long story short we agreed on a purchase price, and then they gave a £250 reduction as contribution to the service, and a £500 discount towards some repairs required present at the time of purchase.

I have asked for the agreed purchase price before deductions as I have paid for a £500 service and a further £500 having the issues fixed.

So basically I've covered less than 200 miles in the car since I bought it and he wants me to give home the parts I've put on it and the main dealer service.
He commented 'he'd bent over backwards for me'! When I was only asking for the car to be fixed and no betterment, and he also said 'he did not authorise me to spend money on the car! When did you ever hear of having to ask the dealer if you could repair your own car! It's like he'd had a drink and started typing!

I don't have a link as it's been removed since I told him I'd seen it and reported to my solicitor, but I have a screen shot I can post.

I agree it's not fair for someone else to fall victim.

Agree, what you've been through is not fair at all.

Please share the pic so we can determine the car reg and spec of Porsche

but not the 1st time the stratton motor company have been shamed http://www.911uk.com/viewtopic.php?p=763541 :frustrated:

So Stratton Motor Company review in Long Stratton have sold you a car with a broken engine and are not carrying out their legal obligation to refund all of your money?

Autoworker Specialists LTD review of Norwich have charged you £300 for highly dubious quality inspection work?

Two companies to be wary of as there are other more trustworthy organisations that come recommended.

I am 99.9% sure that they will be here soon to add their side of the story...

Just like Friends Green Porsche or HWM or Keighley etc etc

Seems common practice lately :schater:

If they F***ed me over like that then i'd happily take a further £300/400/500 loss to let everyone one else know of my 'experience' :dont know:

What makes this whole situation even worse is that I offered to contribute significantly to the repair.
I loved that car.....the way it made you feel opening the garage and seeing that rear! I wanted to keep it and thought with a good Hartech repair it would be future proofed. As they had continued without permission to remove my engine I thought I'd call them and try and make an agreement. I said I'd pick the engine up from Norwich, drive it to Hartech, and pay significantly towards it.

Their answer....a point blank no.

The trouble is they have zero knowledge of Porsche....they do not know the common issues or symptoms an even though the report was produced by an independent Porsche Specialist with photographic evid nice they have just buried their heads in the sand and chose to ignore it.

The financial loss is a kick 8n the nuts....I have spent more on it than I'm asking....the service cost me £490 but I have only asked for the £250 contribution, I spent £160 on some smart repair work, had a drive belt changed plus the PPI Cost....it would be more like a grand. I'm not one to usually take thing lying down but they have had my car since November and just want to ge5 on and replace it. Soon summer will be here, summer prices will strike and I will hav3 to dig deeper for a new one.

Personally I would not let them get away with it. If they are an established company who have been trading for years they are less likely to 'fold" now so I would see it through with a solicitor simply out of principle BUT it may not be worth it in this case as I fear the none sale costs you have incurred would not be recoverable, meaning their offer is all you would get anyway ie if that equates to what you actually paid them.

Also trying to look at this in a balanced way, you admit they are not porsche specialists, they may have also relied on the independant inspection and you have to remember dealers also have to deal with unreasonable customers every day, it works both ways. It may equally look strange to them that you have suddenly produced a totally contractidctory report to 'get" some money out of them ?

The one thing for certain in this is the Autowerks have been shocking and if anything it is them who you should be pursuing legally not only for the cost of the PPI but additional costs you incurred due to their PPI being totally inaccurate ie the total costs incurred less the purchase price. The main issue there would be who there contract was with, you or the dealer. Did you get an invoice from them in your name or did you at least pay them directly ?

Assuming your contract was direct for the first PPI, on the facts given I would,

- take the dealer offer
- go after Autowerks for clear breach of contract and loses incurred.

Good luck and keep us up to date.

Ps I would never use Autowerks for a Porsche PPI in Norwich after hearing of your experience ;-)
