I hear that those grey leather engines in the 993 were far superior to the brown chocolate ones Porsche put in the 996.

It's interesting just how much choice there is at the £50k price point currently.

eg, RSJ themselves have 3 cars.

1. = the 993 mentioned above.
2. = a 60/2011 997 Gen2 C4S with 57k miles.
3. = a 57/2007 997 Turbo Tip with 63k miles.

Much as I've always admired everything about the 993 I'd really struggle to justify buying one above the other two cars at that price.

Same can be said about many manufacturers/models. Take a 90's BMW M5 for example. A good e34 (handbuilt) M5 will be getting on for £20k, whereas you could buy an e60 V10 M5 or a 3-4 Year Old Twin Turbo Petrol 5 Series for similar money if not less. All go rather well but for me the e34 has that analogue and special feel that modern machinery can't replicate.

For me and many enthusiasts, it's not about how fast or accomplished the car is, it's about the smell, feel and what's next to break or go on my 20+ year old classic. :grin:

Depreciation and annual mileage - the 997.2 C4S at least is still depreciating

I think you'll find they've actually gone up in the last 12 months.

The only 911s currently depreciating are the 991 Carrera models.
