Hi, just in process of buying a March 11 car and the services performed to date are as below. What type of service is due in Jan and are there any big items around that mileage that need sorting. Current miles are 29k. Thanks.

08/03/2013 at 6136 miles - Minor service with brake fluid change

10/03/2015 at 18811 miles - Major service with brake fluid change

13/01/2017 at 25517 miles - Major service with brake fluid change.

Next service due 13/01/2019 or at 45517 miles which ever comes first.

Next one will be 8 year service. They all have brake fluid and this one adds plugs.

Should have been minor, major, minor so far.

The normal 997 service interval is 2 years or 12k miles (20k km), so the next ought to be at 37512, not 45517 by my reckoning.

Other than that - it depends on what was done in the last service. If it was indeed a major and they did all of the items from the 8 year early (including plugs and so on) then only a minor will be in order. If they did a major but not all of the 8 year items (primarily the plugs) then those items will be due. If it was the minor that it should have been and they ticked the wrong box on the book then it will be due the biggest scheduled bill that it can get.

If it doesn't have a full history of bills that you can browse through and check then assume it needs everything and get your haggling boots on.

As stated above - brake fluid is every 2 years regardless.

Thanks for the replies. Think its 2 years and 20k miles.
Its had two majors on the bounce.

In Jan 2019, the car will be approaching 8 years old. At 8 years, it would normally be due a 'Major Service', plus brake fluid change (every 2 years), plus spark plugs and check of the drive belt (every 4 years on a car with this sort of mileage).

Also, every 4 years, the tyre sealant would be due replacement, the Porsche schedule calls for a visual inspection of the airbag units, and also a bi-annual Body Condition Report would be due.

The above, of course, assumes that such things as the plugs and drive belt have previously been replaced at the specified intervals. My car is out of synch, insomuch as the plugs weren't changed, for the first time, until the car was nearly 6 years old (so almost 2 years overdue) and the drive belt saw it's first replacement at almost 8 years old, rather than 6 years old......!

The only sure way of knowing is to see invoices for each previous Service, see what, if anything, is out of kilter, and then trying to get the car back onto something like the correct service regime.

So I'm guessing the best option is giving it the benefit of (yet another) Major service in Jan 19, plus all the bi-annual or quad-annual items, assuming the plugs and drive belt have previously been replaced on time.

Has it had its 6 year PDK service? It should've been done in 2017.

Thanks for the replies. It had two majors on the bounce, Aux belts and PDK sorted so all good to go. Picking up on Saturday :D
