Idea on pricing when selling my 997 in the summer

Problem at £29K, it's at at retail price of RSJ, 911v etc They will offer dealer facilities and a warranty that they will stand behind.

I'd say closer to 26-27K to make it worth someone taking the chance.

Thanks. Maybe £27,950 will be the best choice?

I have an offer from 911Virgin for £25,000 so will see how things go. I would imagine they will list it for about £30- £32k and I think it will sell for that, it has everything a serious 997 buyer wants from a car so should hold a premium.

Also forgot to ad mine has PSE as well. The suspension was taken out last year and inspected, both bump stops were replaced and the struts were fine. MOT tester also double checked as I asked him to have a look over them and no problems recorded.

I read somewhere on here (trying to find link) that private realistically is +10% over trade offer

then your at £27.5k

Marketed at £28k for negotiation room.

I reckon you'll be fine to start at £28k, leaves a bit of room for negotiation.

I've taken a look at the video and at the work done. Looks very impressive.

Was the work done just to renew the scored bores or was there work to improve the water ways too ?

Also let people know what part of the country you're located.

Based near Middlesbrough so I will put all that one the advert.

The work was carried out due to scored bores, the car had a full Porsche inspection after the work to confirm everything was carried out as it should be and they stated there was an over rev which will of more than likely been the cause of the score.

When the work was carried out an oil fed IMS was installed (£1000+) plus other little jobs.

When at Porsche for the inspection they removed and replaced or cleaned a few pipes such as coolant pipe, this is all documented.

They picked up on a few petty things such as battery not been Porsche approved, tyres not been N-Rated (still premium tyres) but everything mechanical passed or was replaced (they mentioned the bump stop & both were replaced) so other than pointless stuff like the tyres it would pass the Porsche inspection as that was done about 12 months ago and its done about 1500/2000 miles or so since then.

Given the reported information on engine condition and the beautiful GR bodywork, I would say your bottom line deal figure should be set between the Virgin offer/sale price. £28950 would be my asking with £27500 my bottom line. You are in the fortunate position to be able to remind potential buyers that Virgin would have it in their showroom for five grand more if they don't buy it from you.

Thanks for the info, I am in two minds now! Haha.

I suppose if I do advertise it for £28,950 I can always work down in price if needs be.

Its a great car and the prices are only going one way, especially with a spec like this so I am confident the next owner will be pleased.

Hopefully it goes to an enthusiast and not somebody who wants to hammer it all the time. I have looked after it like a baby!!

Stunning looking car. GLWTS, I don't think it will be hanging around long.

Thank you.

Seriously going to regret selling this but unfortunately I need something bigger. I know it will be one of those cars I look back on in 20 odd years thinking why did I do it!! lol

I know what you mean. I regret selling my Helios blue metallic Mk1 Glf GTI Campaign and Sierra / Escort Cosworth , particularly when I think of what they would be worth today..

Wow lovely red 997, i do like that. Imo that will go for £27k plus plus,

Where is your make an offer, im open to near offers , negotiable? , i did skim read your ebay ad so may have missed that bit

You have put a lot of time effort and thought into that ebay ad, fair play ,

But dealers ads only have 10% of your ads words and they still sell cars !?

You havd said so much in the ad , you'll have nothing left to say to the buyers on viewings

I hope you see my comments as constructive critism and i sincerely mean no offence..

I tried to sell my vw golf rivage cabrio 2 years ago with a wordy ad like yours.

Next month im going to try selling it again but this time higher price ! But a more dealer esque ad with much less words just the main important points in bullet format.

I wish you all the best with sale , im confident you will get your desired price and try and suss out the tyre kickers over the phone . !

Thanks for the feedback, I do have a load of paperwork to go with the car so still some stuff to go through with the buyer.

I am hoping by writing a good advert any potential buyers can see my interest in the car and that I want to go to another enthusiast rather than a half baked advert where I will get pointless questions.

See how things go, if not much interest I can try and shorten it to keep it shorter for people to read.

Thanks again :)
