Goblin Works is tripe

Totally agree. Watched the first 15 minutes of episode 1 about the Ford escort. So stage managed & false. Some "bimbo" (who is no doubt there because these days you have to have a woman, ethnic minority or gay person if more then 2 presenters) just happens to drive the car into a rock but don't worry there is no major damage!! Had to turn it off & have not watched any other episode. Likewise, I cannot watch "Car SOS" as that pathetic Tim Shaw is so false & annoying.

Fully agree

It may be dumbed down to a certain extent, but remains innovative compared to similar shows, whilst Helen Stanley is easy on the eye and ear.

The show works okay if you record and fast forward whenever Tim is doing anything contrived. It does get rather short though...

Agree, Tim Shaw is at the very bottom of the heap and actually makes Mike Brewer look good.

In terms of the star personalities on all the car restoration shows, I rate Philip Glenister on "For The Love Of Cars" as the best. :thumb:

I am surprised how bad goblin works is, as before the guy did a good series on engines. Its all so fake, pretending they dont know what the up to when they go out, also the sales are all fake, as the cars are listed for sale later on websites for a lot less than the supposed sale. The daft mg on stilts with the tiny screen, the escort with an odd engine, the dropped landrover that was a carbon copy of another one. The capri that looked like Bernie and Leepu's one. Mind you not as bad as ratface drew prickard series. Buy a bitsa mini, thats not even a cooper, sell for 11 grand?? then see it fails the mot on loads, or the vw, again fake sales.

Calling Goblin Works "tripe" impugns the nobility of that product.

The one episode I watched featured them "accidentally" smashing up an Escort.

There then followed more padding than could be found in a mattress factory. In the tradition of Discovery type programmes, three presenters telling the viewer what they were going to do, what they were doing and then what they had done. Add in some nonsense about one of them getting a tailored suit made for a bike launch, numerous ad breaks, and artistic shots of hipster style light fittings and brickwork, and I reckon there was no more than about 10 minutes worthwhile content.

Meh.
