If you want the exhaust rasp without a doubt the 991.1 GTS is the place to go.
As for Turbo vs GTS there are an awful lot of posts from people on Forum's who work their way up through the 911 line and ultiamtely buy a Turbo and regret it. For some people it's just too capable and a little uninvolving...partly because of the engine and I suspect partly because it's 4wd.
There are also plenty of people who love the Turbo. Ultimate daily driver bar none.
So really you need to try cars but there is always the halfway house of the 991.2 GTS which owners love...it's a turbo engine obviously but also can be had with 2wd...lots of people have traded in 991.1 GTS for them and absolutely love it.
