Just found these on EBay looks as if they'll do the job.

Unfortinately slighlt the wrong size.

These are the ones

Found them here. £12.53 for a 5 pack.

The supplier is https://www.partsinmotion.co.uk/ and you can order from them direct also.

Bennetts do have them on the shelf for £9.75 but I have to drop into a store to pick them up which doesn't work for me.

There are other places you can find them online but they charge ~£9 for each one so you have to be careful.

I'm surprised they failed MOT on this, I think it's more of an advisory as there's no immediate safety issue.

So is the condition of the ball joint ok?, if so simply banging a new boot on makes lots of sense :thumb:

Always nice to have a cheap fix now and again.

Yeah nice to have this.. probably save me £400k too...

Now... I get to spend £400 on something else :)

I'm going to tackle it this weekend, I'll update how it goes.

You can get a mixture Here for £12.00.

I did this job last year and got a pair for c£4. Easy job :thumb:

Job done. As others have said it is quite easy, and saved £320 + labour.

It's probably an hour job if you know what you are doing, and 2 hours if you make a few mistakes along the way.

A couple of rookie mistakes for me, like jacking the car up before loosening the wheel nuts, and putting one side back together and realising I had forgotten to put the washer back on.

It's tricky getting the new rubber boot on, or rather getting the spring fastener back on.

Here are some photos in case others are planning on doing this. (pictures in reverse order)

The replacement rubber boot is a little taller (6mm) than the original ones but they seem to still do the trick as they are the correct diameter on the top and bottom. The original ones had what looks like a part number (020 060 015 012) on them but googling it does not help.

Thanks mate. Nice to get my hands dirty. It's been a while since I've been 'under the bonnet'. Even the simplest job provides a great sense of self achievement 😁

Well done. Always good to see a bit of DIY. Just out of curiosity : why did you refit the original circlip? Did the new boots not come with a large and small silicon rubber 'O' ring to fit?

Ah I just assumed I had to replace the spring/clip... the new boots did come with silicon rubber 'O' rings to fit. They are on there as well...

So basically I guess I've upgraded

I'll be sure to remember that if ever I sell it...

I have the double secure drop link boots fitted.
