Anyone know anything about these.....

https://9lf.de/en/996-carrera/469-albert-motorsport-996-997-engine-40l-high-tech-replacement-engine-replacement-engine-for-porsche.html#.WlJ5M1OnyhA

Not that I’m ready to splash £12k+ but I stumbled across this and thought it looked good although I haven’t heard any talk of these before? Not a bad price for basically a new engine to this spec.....I wonder what the stats, power output and difference in characteristics would be?

Interesting. They offer a 4.3 version too for not much more (along with standard sizes).

I hadn't heard of Albert until I saw their stand at Dinslaken 2014.

They do some quite 'extreme' stuff.

After reading the rennlist thread I wouldn’t be using this company. Things can go wrong when you do this kind of project and you need a good relationship with your Indy. I don’t think either the customer or the Indy come across well in the thread but there’s enough there to make me take my business else where.

Wow that story does not read well. My 2p would be that any warranty was void as he allowed someone else to strip the engine. But to be fair he had clearly lost faith in the company. I had to make a similar choice with my gearbox. Whilst the first company offered to have a 3rd attempt I had lost faith in them and it was costing a fortune getting it removed and put back in. I had to make a choice... Back to the link, it is unclear what exactly caused the chaps newly built engine to fail but one things for sure those rods look cheap and nasty and no doubt were not fit for purpose. The stock rods look stronger. As for budgets well, there was clearly a breakdown of communication there and he should have asked for updates throughout.

If you are looking for a 4L upgrade on the M96 then it is hartech or auto farm here in the UK.

The above is a case of 'buy cheap, buy twice'. C. £13k for a full mezger build with 3.8l mahle pistons, motorsport oil pump and carrillo rods is far too cheap!

Hmm. I'd be pretty fuming if I received a lower spec than I asked for but at a hugely increased price, let alone it being undrivable upon collection... And then going pop within 2k miles...
Seems Albert just went with the old get-out clause, though owner should have foreseen that and mitigated.

Shame, an indestructible 4.0 or 4.3 off-the-shelf would be a tempting prospect indeed.

Think Hartech have got the former sorted out. Thumb
