996 early C2 - Ownership/project thread (cobalt blue)

Just keeping this thread up to date.

Original plan was:

- Fit the LTT thermo Ive got sitting. - Still to do.
- OZ Alleggerrita 18in wheels in titanium. - Change of plan, see below
- 200cel x-pipe cats mated to the Gembella silencers currently fitted. - Crack all repaired on current silencers.
- Sort paint - front bumper is quite bad but might just get both side done on the car so its all nice. - On hold.
- Retro style side decal in matt grey to match wheels. - On hold.
- Door mirrors replaced to tie into wheel and stripe colour. - On hold although I might try some black ones.

I found some Panamera wheels locally so decided to fit them with new Goodyear F1 Assy3's. The sport designs are sold.

As per other threads I found some bits in the oil/sump so monitoring that before spending anymore money on the car. If all is well I'll go exhaust next then might look to lower it further to x-74 spec springs or H&R. Bought a powerflex gearbox mount insert as well.

Oh and the clutch is still to do as well.

Fingers crossed for you C. Looks like you should be ok though.

Those Panny wheels look good. :thumb:

Nice project thread Coullstar, the cars going to look great when your done mate. :thumb: :thumb:

Really liking the new wheels and good news about the sump plug findings.
Exhaust will be epic. :thumb:

Very nice n coming on well.

Be interested to see how the 200 cell cats go. Are you getting it re mapped too?

Do folks put the gt3 74 mm tb and ipd plenum onto the 3.4 engines to get a bit more air flow and power out? Could be a good mod with the 200 cells and re map

So Id thought about going with black wing mirror caps and a black side decals just for something a little different but then like the styling package that the new 991 Carrera T come with so Im going to try replicate that.

Hopefully it will be on the subtle side. First piece bought, some seal grey wing mirrors so I'll swap over the caps. Next I was looking at the side decal as per the 991 as its not OTT. I quite like it and was going to get it in the same colour to match the wing mirrors. Only thing Im not sure on is the text, should I put Carerra or Carerra 2 or just leave blank? Im erring on no text.

Last part would be refurb the wheels in the same colour. I think this will all tie in well and its all easily reversible.

Thoughts?

I think it will look good on a C2 as they are not as fussy as a turbo or GT car down the flanks with all the vents and spoliers.
you will need dark wheels though to carry it off as it will look a bit odd? especially with black mirrors.

did you put the 200 Cells on and thoughts?

I remember your 4S... you got that looking great if I recall.

Itll be interesting to see this one coming together.

Thanks, didn't do much to the 4s when I had it. Helped with a nice spec from factory.

As per my other thread Ive found no more issues with the engine so Im happy its alright to start the changes.

So much so I stumbled upon these at lunchtime on ebay with 15min left so bid and won them. Chuffed as there the exact spec I would order from new. 8in et50 and 10in et40.

They have really good winter tyres fitted so I'll throw them on then swap over the summer tyres from the Panamera's when its nice weather again.

Probably sell the Panamra's on, maybe with the winter tyres all fitted if anyone is interested :thumb:

Nice! I'm hoping mine will be wering a set later this year

Managed a few jobs tonight, decided I'd not inspected rads yet so bumper off. I decided to take out arch liners as well to inspect the inner sills as well.
They appear okay with very minimal surface corrosion which I rubbed where I could and sprayed in some stone chip I had sitting and also treated some very small bits on the inner arches as well. Ordered some Dinitrol cavity wax to get right in. Need to get in from rear end as well.

Rads were all fine so cleaned up. Drilled a few drain holes in the shrouds at lower rear so help with flushing out when power washing.

I had some mesh sitting around so put that on bumper to stop leaves getting into rads. Also tried out this universal splitter I had, the car had a small lip spoiler from aero kit but this is wider. Not the best close up if I'm honest but I'll see what its like.

Just waiting for these wheels then I'll look at getting exhaust and LTT done.
