I keep seeing posts about how good Porsche Reading are for parts for our classics.
I have not tested this as my local dealer, Porsche Cardiff, has always able to satisfy my needs. With a 356, two old 911's and a 928 GTS i am often looking for parts and they are always an the ball. Knowledgeable, prompt service and even some discount means i do not need to look further. Mike Davies and Andrew in the parts department always respond to enquiries and orders are normally fulfilled in a couple of days. They have got used to my haggling but i always get a warm welcome. Yes i use some specialists who can supply repro parts and used parts when price savings are justified but in the main i like to fit original.
I believe more of the OPC dealers are waking up to the potential value of classic car owners purchases and Cardiff are one of them.
This endorsement is because of the service and customer care i get not because i am being rewarded for making it.

Not a good experience from the sales department on 2 occasions.

Porsche Reading and good in the same sentence. You are joking aren't you?

I didnt say they were good as i have never tried them. I have just read several posts when they have been promoted.
Cannot speak for the sales dept at Cardiff as i have not used them. I am only into classic oldies ( like myself) and would not consider buying new or nearly new. My dealings are with the parts dept and i have no complaints.

I,ve got an old 912e,and I've bought numerous parts from them large and small always a great service friendly, nice bunch of blokes, and service second to none.....unlike the snooty sales boys
would recommend no problem

where you based peter.....i'm in quakers yard just outside ponty

My experience of the service dept at Cardiff has been superb, based on the couple of times I've used them - once having work done the second just for info/pricing. If I lived anywhere near there, I would use them regularly.

I had contacted them a few years ago for brakes and tyres all round for my previous car, as I was due to be working in the area - not only did they match the price of a specialist near London, they took the booking at short notice. Dropping the car off, the expectation was that it would only be with them for the day, but on the way there I'd had a fault with the TPM system, and the parts needed weren't going to arrive that day - the problem being I needed the car first thing on the Monday to drive to Gatwick for a flight.

Having had visions of having to borrow a courtesy car and return to pick mine up the following weekend (from London), I was amazed when they told me their tech would be going in on the Saturday to finish off, when the parts arrived - car was ready first thing Monday.
