Hi All,
I managed to snap the nipple off one of my diveters today and wondered if anyone has a spare they can sell me as Porsche will only sell me a new Turbo Charger!

There are aftermarket "upgrades" available at around £100 each if you don't have any luck in sourcing a replacement. I can understand why Porsche is keen to sell you a complete turbo ££££'s  but it's crazy that they cannot supply a replacement diverter valve.

Just a thought..is it known whether these turbos are used in the same configuration on other cars? It might help widen the search for a replacement.

Thanks Kenny,
Yes, the Porsche parts manager giggled when he whispered 'around £3000' as they only sell the complete unit.
I was not looking to upgrade as such but the original valve plate is made of a ceramic type material and is very brittle. The aftermarket valves are CNC machined aluminium with brass nipples which do look more robust.
I had been swapping out my plugs and coil packs (nightmare but got there with plenty of patience) but more about that in another thread when my Kline arrives and is fitted.
So I guess it is looking like aftermarket valves as things stand but I will leave it a few days in case an original plate appears from out of the woodwork.

No problem Steve :thumb:

The upgrades do look much more substantial, but I can understand why you want to stick to original parts.

I can imagine that the plugs and coil packs were fun, there's not a lot of space in there! Still, it will all be worth it when you get the Kline fitted, it's been something that I'm considering myself after a chat with Adam at 9e.

Good luck with the search for a replacement plate.

Some great news this morning.......

I was just about to press the GO button on the Agency Power aftermarket diverter valves as I had no luck in tracking down any original plates when I changed tac and tried a few turbo rebuild specialists (my focus had purely been set on Porsche specialists).

A few phone-calls later and these chaps came up trumps with some original plastic plates in stock - they say that they are notoriously brittle and carry them as a matter of course.

Only £10 per side (I may as well replace them both) + £1.50 postage and should be with me for the weekend!!!

:Dance-Tap:  :yahoo:

Sorry our posts must have crossed :D

They can stick a 62mm hybrid compressor wheel on yours whilst you're at it - 600bhp :hand:

That's a result :thumb:

It's good to know that they're easily available and cheap!

£10 a side is much more palatable. Result!

Thanks Chaps.

Yes, all worked out very nicely indeed.

Upgraded compressor wheels?? :hand:

If they ever need a refurb it would be rude not to

I must say that the Turbo Dynamics chap (Tom?) did inspire me with confidence during our little chat and if ever I did need any turbo work then they would be the chosen ones!

Yes they're the largest Borg Warner agent in UK and really know their onions - they spec their hybrid VTGS with 62mm compressor wheels ie not too big like most tuners whose turbos tend to choke with too much back pressure on exhaust and high EGTs😄

To be fair to TD they're Turbo specialists not tuners

600BHP you say? just by upgrading the Compressor wheels? What else would need to be done to cater for this power hike (besides a third pair of pants??) Surely cooling becomes an issue? is it a higher boost pressure? will it need different wategate valves? What sort of costs are involved?

You can't drop a bomb like that and not explain....

 :bye:
