Brake light bulbs blowing almost instantly

Hi, my 1997 993 recently started blowing brake light filaments. When the brake light bulb goes, I can tell because when I brake, the front side light lights up and I can see this reflected in the car in front. Only the same side as the blown brake light bulb lights up.

When I replace the bulb, it works fine for a short while but blows again within hours.

Any ideas?

Hello Piers,

Please measure your battery voltage and generator voltage.
Should be between 13 and 14 Volts while engine is running
