I try and do most of the work myself but it's due a service and im that should I keep up the service stamp in the book dilemma.

When I bought it I took it to Revolution in Leeds for a full inspection, they were great but it's a bit too far, there's obviously Porsche in Sheffield who's service charges dont look too bad at £395 for a major but I'd like to consider a good Indy for jobs I can't handle and hopefully lower labour charges.

Thanks

Hi , I'm a Sheffielder

Supercar centre is where I've been for a few years and can't fault them at all .John holland send a few of their cars there themselves.

Ask for Andy or Simon

Don't want to hijack but is there anyone nearer Doncaster ?

I live in Sheffield and go to Zentrum, who are based in Calverton just past Mansfield for all my work. I know not in Sheffield but I've found them reliable, well priced and above knowledgeable.

+1 for Zentrum in Calverton.

The modern classics labour rate at OPC for 996 is £75/hr + VAT = £90/hr inc VAT. Unless you can get labour at an indy for around £45/hr + VAT you are not likely to see much in the prices between OPC and Indy. Any saving will likely be in the use of aftermarket parts, no two-year warranty on the work as provided by an OPC. I think all those indys mentioned charge around £70-£80/hr + VAT. May be worth asking any indy their labour rate and which parts they use as OPC supplied and which parts supplied as aftermarket/OE (not a discussion on if there is any difference by the way), rather if for the same or very similar price you have the OPC do the work with OPC p[arts and the perceived value of those invopices and stamps, is it really a worthwhile saving? And of course the free car provided by an OPC (may/may not be a Porsche).

If you are a memeber of PCGB OPC will give you 10% discount on parts - the indy will buy at trade prices for OPC parts and likely will charge you the full retail price, pocketing the margin that you could have had at an OPC.

Some work is best through an indy - particularly such as engine rebuilds, gearbox and diff rebuilds.

No shortage of indys then to choose from. I talked to the Barnsley outfit when I bought mine - the prices they quoted just seemed too low to believe and the labour rate at that time was £60/hr + VAT - around 5 years ago?

Well, the OP has plenty of choice of outlets and perhaps a choice of how to approach who he decides on for the work. Good luck.

Thanks all, some good tips especially regarding labour rates. If there's not much it in then I'll probably try the OPC. I didn't know John Holland did servicing as well as sales and I do know a guy on the sales side so I'll have a look at them as well as the others.

Thanks

I've gone for pecarspecialists, very knowledgable when discussing my clutch woes over the phone and did seem reasonably priced, plus they provide a complimentary pick up and drop off service.
