Windshield/windscreen wipers - which way do they point?

Hi

I have been looking at the early 1980- 1989 Porsche's and some times the wiper arms point to the side of the steering wheel in most cases ie in the UK they point 'right" from the inside or left when looking at a photo towards the steering wheel, where in the US most of them point Left from the inside of the car toward the steering wheel or right from the outside. Every now and again you will get a US car with them pointing to the right from the outside? Anyone know why this is the case or is it certain models or ?

Thanks
Mike

The standard way all manufacturers work is to have the wiper blades sit flush on the drivers side then operate up and towards the passenger side.

So they wil point to the right side on a RHD car and the left side on a LHD car.

However i have learned on here that some people like them to park the opposite side and the linkage can be moved on the motor to allow this so any car you see thats opposite to the drivers side has been modified by the owner .
