I've been trying to move my car on for about 6 weeks.

It's a 2003 Manual C4 with 50k on the clock, 2 previous owners, PSE from factory and an uprated IMS and new clutch 1000 miles ago.

I've had one viewing so far but haven't heard anything since. A few phone conversations that have led nowhere.

Have I overpriced the car at £18,995? I thought that was reasonable given the spec but maybe I am totally deluded?

MOD EDIT: Link to AutoTrader advert removed as per site rules.

Be honest please!

Looks a nice car at a fair price to me.....just hang on in there, it's possibly the time of year. Fewer are in the market for a second hand Porsche weeks before Christmas and with the cold winter nights setting in.

:?:

Really good pics :camera: and a great write up...stick in there :friends:

Personally I'd seriously consider just taking it off the market and putting it back on in mid to late March depending on how good the weather is.

They have become very seasonal enthusiast's cars. It was amazing how cheaply some cars went through between November and February last year, with somewhat desperate sellers in many cases.

I suspect if you want to sell before next Spring, the price will be c.£15k.

My only recommendation is to get rid of the negatives....You would have more interest if there are no issues to report. Get the paintwork tidied up and have the wheels refurbed.... Might cost maybe £800, but would make it more attractive to potential interested purchasers.

i think you are on the money tbh

I am in the market for another 996 and looking for a Carrera 2 manual so started looking at C2s at the bottom and top end. chrikey the C4s have taken a jump!! if it was not C4 I would have been on your case.

there are cars with higher mileage and pre facelift in far worse condition at dealers for the same money or more.

I would hold out for as long as you can. once the shite weather comes 4wd will be handy.

Have you enquired as to what a specialist such as RPM might offer for it?

That looks like a great buy for an enthusiast who knows what to look for.

Earlier in the year I'd have said that your asking price is spot-on but most potential buyers are probably waiting now until Spring as if they bought a car now they wouldn't use until then anyway.

If you need to sell it I'd try doing a SoR deal with one of the Porsche specialists. Otherwise I'd wait until March and try again.

Good Luck :thumb:

Have you advertised it on here?

Morning guys,

Thank you for the feedback. Really appreciate it.

I have tried this site to no avail.

I'm in no rush to sell other than to free up a parking space so i guess I will follow your advice and relist in the Spring having done the front splitter and alloys over the winter.

I had spoken to RPM and they proposed marketing it at £21k but at significant cost to me so I concluded a private sale was probably best.

Cheers

Nick

I don't think you are that far away on price, I haven't seen your write up or photos but I would say it feels more like a dealer price at £19k with a warranty and some reassurances on sale. There is a 996 on ebay auction at the moment with similar miles to yours so might be worth following that to see what it sells for.

Agree with others, potentially the other side of the new year will see some more enthusiasm from buyers and hopefully all the 996 articles and hype will push up the interest.

Good luck with the sale.
