Hi. I am new to the forum and need some advice as this week (subject to satisfactory inspection by porsche inspections) I am picking up a 997 4s pdk with full service history some main dealer and some specialised providers such as RJR. Had a couple of 993's in the past and could do with some advice with (apologies if this is covered in other posts) the following:

1. What warranty service providers do people recommend?
2. Any recommendations on DAB retro fit to a 2009 car?
3. Can anyone recommend a driving course so I can fully enjoy the car?

Thanks

Gerry

Hi Gerry,

Welcome to the forum.

Most people who prefer to have a warranty go down the official Porsche route, which involves the car passing a 111 point inspection at a Porsche dealership. They tend to take a dim view on cars that do not have original Porsche parts fitted...I have heard stories about batteries, tyres (not N rated) and even wiper blades being questioned.

DAB can be done, there's a lot of threads on here discussing replacement units, although this would likely be another sticky point for Porsche when it comes to warranty.

The Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone circuit is an excellent place to find out what these cars are capable of. They have some events where you can use your own car, should you wish.

I hope that the inspection goes well and be sure to post some pictures of your 4S if you decide to go for it.

Hi Gerry

:welcome: to 911uk and back to 911 ownership. :thumb:

If your car is standard or can be returned to stock easily the warranty really worth having is the official Porsche one. NB: You have to have owned the car for 90 days. If buying from a dealer you're well covered by Consumer Law until then.

Can't help re DAB, sorry.

For driver training CatDT are thoroughly recommended by members on here.

Many thanks for the advice. Inspection Wednesday and picking the car up Friday assuming all goes well. Can't wait to get behind the wheel of a 911 again. Actually went for a different car in the end and a 2011 997 C4s 39K miles and a great spec: pdk, chrono pack, sun roof, carbon pack, steering wheel paddles, Bose, turbo alloys and much more. Can't wait.

Sounds good, here's hoping the inspection goes well.
