911 PSE Exhaust Hack aka the 'Gundo Hack'

the inlet and output are different on a gen2 so be careful on a banana mod.

This is very tempting to get done!
I'm just wondering if having this done would bring a CEL light up or EM light? And if it is still ok to do on the gen 1 turbo?

Thanks all.

IGNORE! Just found out that you can't!

I've done it on a 996.2 & 997.2. not had any issues.

thanks Les

Thanks Les - looks like my option is for Gundo as trying to get a pipe around to the outlet on the Gen2 will not work.

Just swapped the centre box for an X-Pipe.

Sounds great in real life when you hit 4K and it's under load.

Exhaust hack and MOT emissions failure

Hi,

did the exhaust hack on my 2006 4S a few months ago, loving the sound but yesterday if failed the MOT on emissions. I've known the MOT tester for over 30 years as I used to navigate for him on road rallies so I trust him completely - he said it's probably the exhaust hack as he's had numerous Scoobies in where the owners have removed a silencer to make them sound better and they subsequently fail the MOT on emissions. When the put the missing box back on they pass.

When I start the car sometimes there's a very brief rattle from the exhausts that I can't recreated when it's running or when I'm under the car so I'm suspecting the CATs may be due for replacement.

Suggestions welcome as my C4S is now off the road until I get it sorted.

Rob

Banana mod 997.2

Tanks for the info Les. Work all done and fitted them myself. A bit tight to fit but the modder kept the pipes as close as possible. Sounds much better but certainly not offensive.
Will see if there is any issues next month come MOT. Think it should be ok as only took pipe from the blanked nipple to the existing outlet.

I've had 3 x Gundo'd MOT's without an issue.

I have never heard of a gundo failing the mot its one of the most done mods to these cars. I suspect as your thinking its your cats :thumb:

Got a quote today for a 997.2 3.6 Carrera

This was the message from the garage (Porsche specialists but independent)

Hi, if you are talking about the Gundo Hack, this is something we can carry out. The Hack itself is £250. this will require the silencers to be removed which depending on condition and fixings that are needed to be replaced is £195 upwards.

The example they then gave was £600.

Seems steep to me?

All the bolts on your system will be in some sort of state of decay. Chances are that during the removal there will be some snapped bolts. There will be a good 3-4hrs r&r involved if it goes well.

Ah ok so they are just being realistic?

I'm only relaying this info from my local Indy when I enquired last week about swapping out my exhaust for a new one. At £400, I'm having a stab myself, but going in with my eyes wide open.

The two prices I've had are,

PCW who comes to you and he wants £320 all in done.

DW have a winter deal on at £225 + vat but you have to go to them.
