All of which is very nice - but they don't make them anymore, the parrot is dead.
So at the risk of kicking off world war 3 from all directions... what is the best option now - I think everyone fundamentally finds the P-Zeros to be avg at best. Bridgestone? Goodyear? or Sod the N rating and go 91y over 87 Y and go PS4S ?
Which tyre are you claiming they don't make anymore?
If you're inferring this about N rated PS2s you are wrong, unless they've ceased manufacture since July when the four recently fitted to my car were made.
Yes I am saying they don't make them anymore as a series production tyre. I am told production has ceased and only bit of stock remain in the channel. Hence they no longer show on Michelin Website. This was what I was told by my tyre supplier also.
I know Michelin is rationalising the range and hopefully PS4 PS4S will appear with N rating for 997 sizes soon.

How does the 87y vs 91y thing relate to N rated tyres? Or am I wrong to infer that from your post?

they don't yet make 87Y - they only make 91Y (higher weight rating) in PS4S - presumably 91 is slightly stiffer side wall?
I'm not convinced about the sidewall stiffness argument, but I'll replace my MPSS with PS4S when worn.
are yours 87 or 91?

I hadn't heard that. I'm just pleased I got my new PS2s on in time for my Feb' 2018 warranty renewal.
For Feb' 2020 it will be somebody else's problem. _________________ 2007 Guards Red 997 Turbo Tiptronic

Hi
my tyre fitter is offering me PS4S or PS2 N2s 9 (for £10 more) - which to go for?
does N rated matter?
(car is '05 so no warranty issues)
thanks

This thread is a bit out of date really now the PS4S is here. I've replaced PS2s with PS4S. They have no N rating in 997 size, but that's just a concern for those under warranty. _________________ 997.2 C4S PDK

I just put PS4S on the front, and they certainly “look” good! The PS2 N2 I have on the back, now “look” old and dated in comparison.
(In anticipation for anyone saying I shouldn’t mix rear N2 and front PS4S, I will manage!)
As for performance I am not sure - new vs old tyres is always going to feel good.
As for N2, that is normally a big debate. I personally couldn’t careless about it. My tyre fitter told me to only use N2 as it is a “Porsche”, but I ignored him. _________________ 997.1 C2S, Black, Coupe, 6-Speed Manual, Ohlins R&T.

N rating doesn't matter a jot if you're out of warranty.
No insurance implications and no performance implications. It's just another Porsche tax for those stuck in (or choose to be in) manufacturers warranty.

PS4S in 295/30/19 for £231 on tyreleader at the moment.
I just got my local f1 autocentre to price match and include fitting/disposal.
Hope that helps someone.
(I also tried some of the discount codes on the tyreleader site but none worked, a further 25% discount would have been amazing) _________________ Manual 997.2 c2 :Basalt + gtechniq : H&S + Gundo

Am I still right in thinking the Michelin PS4S is the 'go to' tyre? And does anyone have a recommendation for a good place to source them from (beating in mind I need them shipped)?
And since I've seen a fair bit of noise about the latest Goodyear Super Sports is there any one with any experience? I've not seen any comment on the forum. _________________ 997.2 Carrera4S: white over blue, driven and tracked, seldom clean.

I’d say so, yes, from views on here and also 2 friends that have PS4S, one of them being on a 997 turbo S. Camskill always worth a look, but worth checking the likes of blackcircles and tyreleader.
I’d also be interested in Goodyear’s new tyre, no experience but if they were in the right size and were more than £15 a corner cheaper would very likely go for them. _________________ 991.1 C2, 986 Boxster S

Thanks for the offer, I didn't mean to ignore it, I just didn't see it. In my experience arranging shipping myself is a pain for all concerned. The tyres would need to be wrapped etc. If I was local, and I could come and have a look and pick up in person, I'd be happy to buy. _________________ 997.2 Carrera4S: white over blue, driven and tracked, seldom clean.
