Unrecorded GR 996 GT3 via Copart; LX53NRN Updated!

Wow, still pretty incredible if that's the case, at over £100K....

There has been no buzz or talk around this, what suddenly happened to boost values by 25K in the last few months ?

A 996 Clubsport is an extremely rare car in Guards.I think in 996.1 there were only 28 made in all colours for the UK.

I cannot believe that 'red' equates to a premium of £20-30,000 over non red.

Have all the red ones been written off or badly crashed???

Maybe the statement was a mathematical error.

Pip

No mathematical error; LS paid nearly £100K for his new GR CS. It was very low miles at 16K though & he does obsess about mileage. He bought a Cobalt GT3 CS a couple of weeks before this one came on the market & despite it only having 24K on it, deemed it 'too leggy'! The Cobalt car is for sale now.

Have I got that right T? :floor:

Haha - you are the closest :)

The leggy car is 32k miles :) Actually it was not mileage that I was obsessing about, it was finding something that matched my old car.

The premium is both for colour and mileage. Though I would have been just as happy at 30/40k miles so yes had to pay more to get the spec I wanted.

But, you don't need to take my word for it. Do you own research, try and find a proper coloured clubsport (Red, Yellow, Blue) for less than £85k say...(mileage also has an impact of course). Speak to owners, see if they want to sell one cheaper. Happy to eat my hat. I was scouring the market and my network for almost a year.

As for how much stuff used to be years ago - sadly that boat has sailed. I bought the red car that is original subject of this thread in the £40s. I sold a 996 RS with 28k miles for some £55k....but that is history. Would love to do the same if I could.

These cars are only getting rarer. Guards Red mk2 clubsports will only have single digit cars left without stories. The 996 model generally is (imho) going to gain increasing interest as people realise it is one model at the inflexion of old and new....I've tried all of the water cooled ones - albeit the air cooled generation was a little before my time :)

I realise this is subjective so some may not agree with me....and that's fine.

I really wanted a GR Clubby MK1 or 2 when I started my search.

After looking for over 13 months was about to pull the trigger on a GR MK2 Comfort with bucket when the owner of my current SY MK1 Clubby after having it 12 years let it go to me.

You know how you carry on looking even after you have bought, I have not seen another SY or GR Clubby I would want (or afford) to buy come up..

Sometimes is about being in the right place at the right time waiting to pounce..

Yeah in your case once someone else has paid for the inspection and the owner is willing to shaft him.

The car wasn't even advertised and shortly after I had it PPI'ed it sold to you (probably for more money) whilst I was arranging to pay/collect it. Either way, water under the bridge now, I'll never know what happened during that PPI but I can take a guess. At least I know who to avoid in the future. Was a very cheap car at £50k.

To close this off, I had a 'wanted GT3' post on PH.

I got a email saying "I have a GT3 for sale". So I went to see the vehicle test drove it, had PPI's and checks done. At the point of viewing the vehicle the owner said someone looked at it but never got back to him over 2 weeks ago - with NO deposit and he has not returned my calls!!

It took me 2 weeks to sort the money out, get the PPI's and checks done. So if the owner was telling the truth that's 4 weeks between when you saw the vehicle and I collected the vehicle, no?

Cheap car maybe... but I have spent a lot on it getting 100%, I could of bought from a dealer for what I have spent. (But at least I know its 110%, and I have sorted all the things raised on the PPI's)

What more can I say? - In my mind I have done nothing wrong.

Now lets move on.....

of the choice standard colour Guards Red CS's 996.2 GT3's are fewer in number than Speed Yellow, thus there is a slight premium

although the SY cars are known to be quicker

@lasource - agreed the damage isn't that extensive- but how did it end up on copart? Your buddy who bent it when you were in the passenger seat just took the Insurance money and the insurers stuck it on copart I guess?

As someone else has said if more detail were known about who actually repaired it that could make a big difference to the saleability and confidence people have in the car. I don't know of any specialist in brighton that the person who bought it - Emily - referred to in her post.
