Hello
I have recently bought another 997 after a selling my last one, and regretting it.
I opted for a 3.6 version this time over my previous 3.8 S, I however have not noticed any less power both Gen1 cars former was a tip new a manual
This car also seems to handle a lot better on the straights maybe the 18" wheels over the previous 19s ?

I would however like to lowere the car a small amount 20-30 mm maybe will there be any issues in doing this ?
whats the prefered method its not going to be race car just a weekend car
I may stick with the 18" rims for now but would prefer a diferent style any sugestions ?

Thanks in advance

Tom

I used Techart springs on mine as they lower a bit less than the others , the 3.6 does sit 10mm higher from stock than the 3.8 unless you have got one with pasm speced most came without and many say that the 3.6 ride is a nice balance and better that both of the options with PASM which are either too hard or too soft . the 18s will also give it a softer ride. :thumb: its a good call to lower it a bit as the 3.6 does sit imo a bit high. The techarts wont noticeably change the feel of the suspension which I liked felt the same as stock to me.

Hi Tom
Nice car - very similar to my car - or how my car used to be....

My experience was that I tried lowering with eibachs and I wasn't happy.
I ended up with ohlins road and track dampers fitted by centre gravity.
Not cheap, but a very good solution.
I also stayed with 18 inch wheels because I preferred the ride.
Cheers
Rob

Hi thanks for the response
I was looking at H&Rs as ive fitted them to other cars and the quality seem good ?
What about the Eibach Pro kits ?

Not sure i want to strech to full Coilover kit just now just after a little 15-25mm or so drop

THE Eibach and H&R Will drop the car 25/30mm the techart will drop it by 20mm all are good its just a case of deciding how much you want to drop it by . avoid the really chap ones as I have seem them continue to lower over time and the car ends up looking slammed which is not a good look for these cars.

All of the above reports seem to suggest don't really affect the ride so you wont loose fillings lol I can only comment on the techart on my old gen1 3.6 and the H&M on my gen2 3.8 both of which I can say the ride feels very stock.

I have just recently fitted the Eibach Pro Springs, which lowered my car 16mm across both front and rear (I have a C2S with sports suspension, which is OEM 10mm lower). One of the better mods where i think money well spent (in contrast to my exhaust if i am being completely honest).

In terms of ride comfort, it is same if not better. The car feels a lot more composed and i was expecting it to be harsher, but that wasn't the case at all. That might have also to do with the fact that I got a new geo and spacers fitted by centergraphics (see the latest post in my built thread).

If you have any questions let me know! I was also thinking about the Bilstein Damptronics but decided in the end against it simply because of cost and they are actually very hard to get hold off. All in all i am very happy with the springs.

Doing with CG, i had to buy it through them to get the full warranty, despite having already bought the Eibach springs myself a few weeks ago... i will put the springs up for sale shortly (it's new and used, still in the original package, not taken out, with receipt etc), in case you might be interested...

I had the H&R springs fitted to mine last year (25-30mm drop) also fitted 15mm spacers on the rear & 7mm on the front.

Barely any compromise in ride quality, I also fitted the DSC TPC race module for active damping which has counteracted any diminished ride quality from stock.

On rough B roads and aggressive speed bumps the splitter will scrape but it a small price to pay for how it looks!

That's a great stance :thumb: but its so low you have knocked the front plate off :floor: :floor: officer :dont know: :dont know: :cop:

Absolutely agree with that, on the slightly higher speed bumps I have started scrapping too, but I think that's more the front mudguard than my bumper (I got the stock bumper)

The fuzz never liked the front plate anyway, something to do with the spacing?

And they really disliked this! Literally no sense of humour at all?
