Ugliest Modified Porsches ever and yours for £125k

I have to admit I rather like them. Well 2/3rds of the car, that is. From the side mirrors backward, but what happened to the person at the drawing board with the front end. Did he / she fall asleep or die whilst still holding the pencil?

The cars are true examples of super car design from that era. The shock and wow factor that made them flaunt their design that only super cars could do back then and get away with it. The worst could be said of the Escort Cosworth with its ridiculous whale tail in the 90's.

Do I like them... yes in a way... would I prefer a 991.2TS to buy.. everyday of the week

At least it was an option on the Escos :thumbs:

The same can't be said with these two ugly sisters :sad:

oh, by the way, they have made another one:

I'd be too embarrassed to be seen driving that let alone want to buy it.

Certainly not subtle but I'm sure they are well put together - not my taste - built for a different cultural market I would suggest.

Wonder how much it would cost to put the bodywork back to standard and keep the oily bits.......

Extremely Rare and Valuable 1986 Gemballa Avalanche / Cyrrus

The Gemballa Cyrrus and Avalanche are Iconic 80's cars.

It does not matter if you like them or loathe them they bring back the excess of the good old days.

The Avalanche has a Ruf engine and extremely low mileage. I have seen standard Porsche flatnose 930 with a ruf engine sell for £300k. From reading other write ups on the 1986 Avalanche these things could be worth £1m+ as they are rare (1 of 13 built over 8 years). 0-60mph in 3.6 sec, and the car cost £500k in 1986.

This was the first of the mega expensive cars, so I will definately be watching how much this goes for.

The Cyrrus is apparently one of 8 cars built over 8 years so to have the pair at the same auction will make for interesting viewing.

Out of all the Lambos, Ferrari's, Maserati's, other Porsches and supercars such as the Enzo these are the only 2 making headlines on all the car portals and even GQ magazine.

I personally love these cars and I hope they go for the true value that they are worth.

@padders81
As your first post you have made it pretty obvious you are either the owner or connected to the owner/rm Sotheby's.
Good luck with the sale.

They are the corsa equivalent of max power styling, or from the pages of kit car horrors. What amazes me is that someone managed to drive almost 600 miles per year in the white one. Must have been at night. Obviously was not a car that they enjoyed being seen out in. Amazes me Gemballa stay in business, with the abortions they turn out.

Even the username lacks any subtlety :hand:

Urban dictionary: "Bid Padder: Using eBay or any other similar website, is when i person puts a item up for auction and want to get the highest possible price so uses a friend to place bids and up the overall sale price."

Gemballa

Not my car but wished it was.

I had a poster of an Avalanche in the 80's so just remember how extravagant they are and never Seen one for sale.

Just thought they will be the main feature in the auction.

I did not even mention the name of the auctioneers so definately not trying to publicize the event.

'Main feature of the auction' ! :floor: :floor: :floor:
Good try! Step away from the spade....

@timm996 agree with every word

I personally am amazed that this particular house is letting these pollute the line up of cars but clearly any material goes at the moment.

Hope for your sake you have the last laugh if they sell to someone with equally good taste.

Gemballas were always a bit eccentric probably bought by the likes of the Sultan of Brunei and the odd dictator or two!

Strangely enough i have a Spark model of one...

Hearing bids for both cars fizzled at £110k and both lots were passed. Should have snapped their arms off at £110k those we're astoundingly high bids for those cars, means with buyer premium someone was willing to pay £125k for each one!

I couldn't believe they reached that sort of money. I watched the auction online. I remember Evo did a test on a Gemballa 911 Turbo conversion and their conclusion was that they had ruined it. Impossible to drive on the road and slower on the track than the original Turbo and double the money??.
