Hi everyone, this is my first post on 911uk. I've been a lurker for a long time on this forum and decided it was a good idea to finally introduce myself and show you all a few photos of my car and some of the changes I've made to it over the years. I always enjoy reading other people's project threads and hopefully someone out there will enjoy reading mine.

Whilst in the grand scheme of things, the changes I've made are fairly subtle when compared to some of the more extreme modified Porsches out there, I'm sure my car and ideas won't be to everyone's tastes. I know there will be a lot of people who will see what I've done as ruining a perfectly good car, but hopefully there might be a few who can appreciate what I've tried to do with the car. I've tried to create my own interpretation of the perfect Porsche, as I can't buy one that I would consider to be perfect, I've started trying to build it instead.

I've always modified and tweaked my cars over the years and I've never been too concerned about the effect those modifications would have on the cars value. To me, the satisfaction and enjoyment I get from personalising my cars and creating the car that I really want far outweighs the satisfaction and enjoyment I'd get from being able to sell the car for more money due to it being in original condition. I don't see cars as a way of making money, more as an expensive hobby. I'm sure a lot of people will think I'm making a mistake by devaluing a car that almost everyone else is trying to keep standard as the values continue to slowly creep upwards.......but anyway, here goes......

I've owned my 996 turbo for about 5 years and still absolutely love it. It's been the best car I've ever owned. The car is a 2003 manual in seal grey with a black interior. When I bought the car it was pretty much standard apart from a few subtle changes made by the previous owner.

I've been reading these kind of threads long enough to know that they are useless without pictures, so here's a few I took several years ago when I first bought the car. I apologise in advance for both the amount of pictures and because they were all taken on my phone, they aren't the best quality.

That was how it looked for a couple of years, until I started spending too much time looking at various forums for some inspiration.....

I hope you guys enjoy the photos.

Dave

Welcome, looking forward to the next set of pics detailing your mods.

Great photos Dave, I recognise that road, the A4059 from Hirwaun to the A470 below the Storey Arms, one of my favourite routes if I'm on the bike or in the car. Great views.

Dragon Ride this year was the first time in 10 years I rode that with a tail wind. Must do it in the car.

Hey guys, thanks very much for the warm welcome. I really appreciate that.

One of the first changes I wanted to make was to change the colour of the wheels. I decided on a dark grey. I had the work done at a company called the 'Wheel specialist' and was very happy with the standard of finish. However, I wasn't 100% convinced that I'd chosen the correct colour to go with the seal grey. I took these photos to try and help me decide.

The car looked like that for a while until I decided that the grey I'd chosen was too dark. I had them repainted in a colour the company referred to as gunmetal and was much happier with the way they looked. The 'Wheel specialist' have done a few sets of wheels for me over the years and they've always done an excellent job.

The TT in the photo above was being used as my daily driver at the time and the second photo was taken after a change of plate. I know personalised plates like mine are a very divisive subject on various forums, but mine makes me smile.

Trig_112 - Thanks very much. I hope I can find the right balance between enough pics and info to answer any questions, but not so much that everyone gets bored.

Steve - Cheers mate. You're absolutely right, it's my favourite road at the moment and as you'll see it's one of my favourite places to take some pics.

T8 - Thanks, I appreciate the warm welcome.

Nickhappy - Thanks, I hope to be able to update this thread fairly regularly and hope it doesn't disappoint.

Apollokre1d - Cheers mate, nice one.

Adamw - Thanks very much, hope you enjoy them.

Diggermeister - Haha! Thanks mate, yeah any excuse to drive that bit of road.

HSC911 - Thanks for that, appreciate it.

Dombo - I can highly recommend it in the car, definitely worth doing. Just a shame it's not longer.

Edge - Cheers mate, I'm a huge fan of seal grey on these cars too.

I'm not a fan of personalised plates at all, but yours made me smile, good choice.
