I'm currently looking for a new Carrera so selling my current 997 Carrera S - 2006 with 45k miles. I have been offered £25k from 2 different OPC ,s but since I have the time to do it wandered if it was worth selling it privately i.e. is it realistically worth it as in how much more would I expect to sell it for.

It has had a full Hartech rebuild along with a host of other new parts that I decided to do at the same time costing around £10k.

Maybe wrong, but I would suspect you would be better off selling privately as the rebuild is unlikely to be seen in the same light by an OPC in a trade-in, as it would be by a private buyer who knows what they are looking for. You won't recoup the cost of the rebuild, but the fact it's been rebuilt will be pretty attractive to someone.

Have you spoken to any specialist dealers?

Stick it on pistonheads and see what happens. You'll get some chances and cheeky offers, but that's the downside of a private sale. Surely you're looking at high 20's at least with the rebuild?

Probably private, but need to know the full spec and options list to know for sure. Mileage is low, Hartech rebuild is good, only thing is if your reg number is (well it was showing in a pic but isnt now so removed themention of what it is!)
then westealanycar thinks its a Targa4S?

Heres the spec sheet I was given by Porsche when it was in getting a service on Friday.

Personally I would try and sell it privately, the worse that could happen is you realise some more money!

IMHO £25k is strong money from an OPC. The spec will not make that much difference to the price on the secondhand market, but it will likely affect desirability and you seem to have some nice options anyway.

I have seen a number of 2006, 2007 997's listed privately recently, asking in excess of £30k, but they are still for sale... Good luck with your sale and I really hope you achieve a good price, after all, it would mean many of us would have appreciating assets! :thumb:

We buy any car offered me a better price for my Cayenne when I looked at trading at OPC despite the fact it could be sold easily by OPC. I've learned they're no different, worse in fact, than other dealers - apart from MB :what:

Sell the 997 privately as OPC will not retail it and punt it out in the trade  Keep the 25k in the back pocket as a guide as weapons grade bell-ends will try to offer less until you 'float' the trade offer and you'll likely beat it.

Webuyany are saying £25,850 online but I've sold to them 8 years ago n they beat me down from the online quote back then. Minds made up will advertise private though undecided where to start. Probably high twenties and see what I'm offered.

I have a friend who may be interested.

I will be heading up the A9 next week and could possibly swing by and look at it, if he wants.

Here my 2p.
I think the 25k from the opc is a fair OPC price, but I do think a C2S 2006 with mid 40k miles that has got factory Aero, PSE ,CHRONO, and lots of the other desirable bits . and a Hartech rebuild and at 10k I am assuming a future proof rebuild has to be worth just under 30k .
As others have said there are a few just over 30k that are sticking around which tells me 30k is the ceiling.
I would try listing it at 31/32k see if you get a bite from someone who understands the premium of a Hartech rebuild and if no takers then drop it to £29.995 with a view of getting close to that price.
Your fall back it the opc 25k and the end of the day anything over 26k is a win over the OPC but as your in no hurry you can afford to wait for the sensible offer. :thumb:

It's got to be worth minimum £27k private then you can negotiate hard with no trade in or was the £25k from opc just to buy?
I'd put it up at £29k and see what happens.
If you've got time take it!! The right buyer will come along, good luck.

I was thinking along the same lines Phil.

The £25k was a trade in price

Would have been interested in buying your car if I hadn't bought a new BMW M4 competition pack last month.

What colour is your car, is it Atlas Grey?

Have you looked at some indies selling it for you - they usually take around £2k for sale or return.

Looks like you've really looked after it, I think it will sell very quickly - and as others have said, around £30k is a fair price.

Car looks lovely, don't think you will have any trouble selling that.

If I didn't already have one I would happily take it off you.
